What did he do with his tee shot on 18? They haven’t shown it.

Looked like a very slow swinging 3 wood. Really deflated. 2nd shot wasn't any better.

Yeah looked a really safe swing.

Are players MANDATED to use the drop zone on #17? Why couldn't Tiger have dropped on that path on the back of the green, no closer to the hole?

It’s too close to the windmill and the clown’s mouth.

Tour will cave and will change that quirky hole after NBC says it ruined their weekend ratings. If Keegie Bradley birdies it today, they may bulldoze it and fill it in this evening.

Just saw the front page article on HVIII and his driver debacle. What a farce the USGA rules have become. The "modern game" is just as perplexingly stupid as the "old game" rules.

It wasn't a new rule.

Not my point. The point is these are modern clubs you can literally assemble in seconds on a course, and the rules don't account for this correctly.

Also, TW is out of this tourney. I'll be doing some storm cleanup this weekend I suppose rather than watch this one.

Yes they do. They don't want you building clubs on the course, no matter how easy it is to do it

After the tumultuous thread in the R&E forum, I think you can build or assemble it on the course. If the components are brought directly to you and not carried on the course. At least that’s how it was shouted at me to be.

Fine. I'm in NO mood to argue here. The rule is stupid and should be changed for pace of play reasons alone. I'm done here.

Your whole post was to complain and argue for no reason other than to complain and argue

That whole thread is off the rails like 99% of the threads in that section. The ability of people to nitpick things that really have no bearing on anything is staggering.

Just don't build a club on the course seems to be the simplest way to not get penalized.

Spieth should get a Srixon driving iron, start hitting stinger's, and ditch the driver for awhile.

Azinger needs a Neuro exam, something is wrong with him.

I agree. I think he was plagued with chasing distance as his average is up several yards from a few years ago. He's not doing well with the new TS3, maybe time to bench it.

I've noticed the distance is up a bit too, although I think his ranking hasn't moved as much (20 spots or so).

If true (distance chasing), I don't know if it was a bad move or not. I think Phil figured out how to add a lot of distance once Tiger started killing everyone. Phil wasn't short when he came on tour but in the mid-2000s he was one of the longest. This move almost certainly extended his career/relevance, and probably changed it as well. McCormick's main student on the LPGA added ~10 yards and got to #1 for a period.

Obviously we know for whatever reasons Spieth isn't playing well now. However, it may be less of a foregone conclusion that "just doing the same thing" would have kept producing the same exceptional results.

A lot of Phil’s distance came from optimizing his launch numbers though I’m sure he’s done some pliability and strength training though in conjunction. Phil when he was younger used to hit these majestic risers that start low then rise up to the apex and then flutter down.

The spinny-riser with the driver. Something I'm familiar with.

Keegie Bradley please get a quad soon and disappear... listening to these announcers say ' Key gen' over and over' all weekend could destroy a good tourney. Annoying golf with an annoying name.

You know of all the idiotic things you said here, I think the icing on the cake is the "good tourney" comment...

I don't get this mentality. There are 143 other golfers to watch in this event.
