PXG GEN 2 PUTTERS!!

Picked it up and feels great on the practice green.

First round with the PXG Gen2 Gunboat and it was awesome. I think it rolls the ball like a Spider. Keeps the ball on the ground and rolls true. It feels so good off the face using a Kirkland 4 piece and a Snell MTB-X.

 

Had 3 birdies due to the putter and saved a bunch of pars. Excellent putter and well worth the money (Thanks PXG for Hero’s Program).

 

Side note: PXG Gen2 0811x driver is crazy good and feels amazing. My wife rode along and kept mentioning the sound was so much better than my M6. Hitting bombs with it.

I like the Closer as well, not sure why the minimum headweight is 370 grams. Anyone know?

It is a very sweet putter. Easy to align and feels great off the face. I’ve been told by the PXG rep that It plays 370 at minimum because at standard there are 2x5g + 2x 10g weights. So switching the 10gs to 5g would make the putter play 370g total. That is with the plumbers neck. It plays lighter with the double bend. Personally i think the weight is great on it. The heavier feels adds to the stability. So it plays like a true mid mallet.

Frankly great deal now Heroes theyre $295 and can get a Gen1 for $95 cant beat it and the putter cover on the Gen1 prob a $50 cover

It’s legit. Much better feeling and sounding than the Gen1. Milled face is a game changer in these and the weighting is awesome. I’ve made a crap ton of putts lately outside of 20 feet too, it’s insane.

Thanks sounds like I need to give one a try. I have a pretty SBST stroke and have always putted better with larger high MOI putters as much as I like the looks of a classic Anser style head. It’s just there aren’t many out there that I like both the looks and feel and SC has really been underwhelming the past several releases.

I really never have liked my Saber Tooth Odyssey I’ve been gaming the last several seasons but it just works for me. Wanting to upgrade to something that gives me the same results but with better feel and classier looks.

When I did a putter fitting at PXG I thought I would gravitate to the Operator because I have been a Spider guy forever. After my fitting I walked away ordering a Gen2 Gunboat. I am a SBST guy - didn’t really know that until the fitting and the Gunboat allowed me to make everything.

 

After one round, this fitting translated to the course. I made so many good putts and I know in one round it made a difference. Just hope the honeymoon lasts a awhile. Oh... it it feels great too.

Another round with my Gen2 Gunboat and provided many more good par putts and 3 birdies. Love this thing. Feels great with the Snell MTB-X.

Same here with my Operator. Dropping putts like crazy. Playing Srixon Z Star XV and it feels fantastic.

It was said in the next month or so....August/September?

I like the looks and will likely be getting it in Damascus Steel.

My Gen 2 double bend Mustang is the best putter I've owned, and I own a ton of putters. Very forgiving, rolls the ball great with the pyramid face and just feels solid in my hands. So glad I made this purchase.

Removed the SS Flatso 1.0 and added a SS GT 2.0 and my Gen2 Gunboat just got even better! This thing feels so good rolls the ball so true. It hugs the green so nice.

I have a fitting later this week, I have not tried these at all but am intrigued, open to suggestions from my fitter so we’ll see what replaces my Odyssey White Ice 330.

I am not sure why anyone would want a Damascus putter. While they look cool, your are designing hot spots and inconsistencies into the head. to get the pattern you have to use different metal with different properties in them. I guess you may be able to get around that with some kind of face insert but other wise it will be inconsistent by nature.

 

Looks good though, except I always think plumbers neck mallet'ish putters look weird. A double bend would look better in my eyes.

Sorry but at putter club head speeds there’s no way the layering of the Damascus material is going to create hot spots and inconsistencies unless someone did a horrific job of working the steel.

...just finished my fitting - what an amazing process, the attention to detail and time spent considering different options re weights, grips, putter length, counter balance options was so reassuring; the ability to see the effect immediately made a decision easy albeit the choice of heads then can confuse it - for me between the Closer, Lucky D and Brandon - Lucky D it is for me courtesy of Laurence’s input, now I just have to wait 6 weeks!!
