Anyone at Bandon or just returned, are you wearing shorts?  I leave on Wednesday, The forecast looks excellent the rest of the week.

We had a blend of 55-65 with and without wind.  Shorts were good on a couple days and pants welcome on a couple.  Not really a helpful answer.

It is rarely (never?) too hot for pants at Bandon. Plus the tall grass/gorse etc is annoying specially if it is damp. I always just go with pants and keep it easy.

I usually go pants there, I find the wind factor makes it feel cooler than the stated temp, but then again that's always been in November/February. That said several guys in my group are in the always shorts category at those times and come out fine. Looking at that forecast I'd probably be planning on pants but also packing a pair or 2 of shorts, but I usually like to err on the side of being warm as opposed to cold.

Does Bandon sell stand bags in their pro shops? I didn’t notice on my trip last year. I am going to be in the market for a new bag within the next year and may  weight to purchase one on my trip in 2023. Trying to think of higher dollar items I may need so I can take advantage of the lack of sales tax in Oregon.

They do sell a variety of bags and stand bags.  Each course has its own pro shop and selection of swag featuring that courses logo.

From what I could tell, each course had logo'd bags from different companies.  Bandon Dunes had Sun Mountain, Pacific had either Callaway or TM (don't recall), and so on.  I knew I wanted either a Sun Mountain/Titleist bag with either BD or PD and had to to BD since PD was a different brand.  Not sure if the course/brand affiliations change each year, but it makes sense to do it this way since they can't have every course in every brand/model.

Just curious...has anyone made the round trip drive from east coast?  The way the airlines keep changing flights around, it may be the safest way to go these days.

Toss up but for the views Sheep Ranch. If you want a non ocean links Old Mac. If you want a tree lined serene course and change of pace from Bandon/Pacific, Trails.

I think of how tight my back is after driving 4 hours from home to Bandon.  Can't possibly imagine how bad it'd be trying to play golf after driving all the way from the east coast!

And I go to Bandon to play great courses.  For me, those three give the best experience of everything  Bandon offers.

Don't need a cruise.  I love the ocean, with its sea salt air, segulls and crashing waves.  That's why my house looks out on the ocean.  It is restorative and peaceful.

Alright, I'm 4 days removed from my first Bandon trip, and while I caught COVID while there, it was still an amazing trip.

 

- Skip the dry-aged bone-in strip at the Forge.  It's terrible.  Go regular ribeye.

- Sock and shoe change after 18 is no joke for those playing 36 in a day.  Having two pairs of shoes that actually fit you before walking 36 also helps.  I have a newer pair that has at least 20 rounds on them (riding in a cart) that as it turns out, don't fit me very well.  I walked 36 the first day in them, and at the end, while my feet were a little sore, I didn't expect to have lost a big toe nail, as well as several other blood blisters.  Both socks were soaked in blood.  Lots of moleskin after that.  It's amazing I managed another 72 holes walking over the next two days.  Gonna be a few more days before my feet don't hurt.

- Best meal outside of the Forge might be the Trails clubhouse.  

- Keep your Bandon Protein Balls secured!  Crows are a******* and will literally unzip your ball pouch and steal them from your bag (this probably goes for a lot of courses).  We laughed it off.

- Hire a photographer for 9-18 holes if you can.  Amanda Looney was mentioned earlier in this thread, and she did a great job for us on Pac Dunes.

- Everyone that works there is absolutely top notch. 

- Disco Dave is a GREAT caddie - try to get him requested a month out or more if you're going in blind.

- Even if you're forecasted for the 60s, still bring a pullover.  If it's windy and foggy, it's gonna be chilly.

Glad you had fun and agree on all these points. I lost both big toenails on my November 2020 trip (my seventh to Bandon, never had any foot issues before) and it took 11 months for them to fully regrow. Consequently, I will never wear Adidas Tour360 XTs ever again. I returned the following February and recall taping down the dead ones twice a day. A disgusting experience all around.

$400, she stayed with us for the last 12 holes at Pac Dunes.  Includes everything.
