Yup, I agree. Also, Prov1s aren't $41 anywhere unless they are an old model, overruns, or a seasonal deal.

Just looking at the prices of the greyson apparel on the Bandon site and it is priced very well. Save 15 dollars by ordering from bandon instead of greyson on this Hoodie. 😂  Standard $115 polos on Greyson are $115 at Bandon as well.

$41.99 at Fiddlers Green all day long.  That's their regular price for brand new ones.  They do have older models, but I don't recall what they cost.  Maybe I'd have a different attitude if I paid MSRP on stuff, but I'm too cheap to do that.

Going to Bandon soon and wanted to get some intel about recommended gratuities for the caddies. Bandon website says $100 plus tip, but doesn't say anything about how much is a recommended tip. I read elsewhere that $20 is perfectly fine (on top of the $100), but that info was from a couple years ago (and also no idea if it was accurate to begin with). I know caddie gratuities can vary a lot from one destination to another and a good tip in one place is considered not so good in another. So for all you Bandon veterans here, what's considered a standard tip? Thanks in advance.

Personally I'd say $20 is minimum. I'd probably do $30 and up to $40 if the guy was really good.

The caddies themselves are saying $40-60.  Obviously that's a biased opinion.

Back in '20 a buddy and I had the same caddie for 36 x 4 and I think we gave him $500 a day - but to be fair I never really asked/read about how much was reasonable. They told us $100 pp/rd was recommended and we added on $25 on top.

Currently on property, a couple of observations:

1) The food has gone down, way down. Apparently they are having a hard time finding qualified cooks.

2) Lots of divots. With so much play, it’s not a surprise.

3) Trails was sanded from tee to green. Makes for slow greens and a lot a shoe cleaning.

4) Bandon has the best rolling greens.

5) Round Lake rooms are great.

Is that a tee box or ground under repair?

Agreed on the divots, currently here also. A lot more than any other time I’ve been here.

That’s the tee box on Trails #3. All of Trails was sand capped.   A few of the greens even had edges that were roped off. Caddies were saying that with all of the play, the courses have no time to rest.

Pacific had the most divots of all the courses.

Someone also mentioned on the thread about the new stuff at Old Mac. They are clearing trees back behind #18 for Round Lake style rooms and a pizza restaurant. They are also going to build a second Punch Bowl in the area of the current Old Mac putting green.

Do they need to to rest or grow over the last few months? Thing should get better now that the grass is growing strong again.

Played the Preserve today, after my round at Bandon Dunes. As good, if not better than Bandon. I’m not sure what’s going on with the greens at Mac, Pacific, and Sheep Ranch. A lot more poa than I remembered. Maybe those greens are due for aeration. And they holding off until a couple large groups (NCGA and SCGA) leave.

Not sure if you meant something other than Pacific. Pac and Bandon have excellent greens right now. (Played both in the last 24 hours.) Trails has some bad spots and a lot of sand, all over the course. OM and SR are doing the poa versus fescue fight, they are a bit bumpy.

I played PAC on Saturday morning. I thought they were slow and wobbly. Like the greens had been recently verticut. Maybe my perception of Pac was negatively affected by the conditions of Mac and Sheep Ranch on Sunday. The poa I saw on several greens were visible clumps, with the ball getting airborne.

Other random thoughts:

Round lake rooms are pretty nice (sitting in one now sipping Dalmore)

Service is still great at Bandon despite being short staffed. We had to switch rooms halfway through and my wife left her hair dryer in the other room, they just delivered it.

Why did I have just salad for lunch?

@Cunniandy great pics. It's fabulous when the gorse is in full bloom.

Definite rookie mistake on the shoes. Always bring two pairs that are already broken in.
