Congrats!!! Was August your first choice?

I could have made some other months work but yes. I basically called and said can I get 3 consecutive nights any weekend in August, then once we confirmed a room we figured out tee times.

I was able to line up 18 + Preserve Friday, 36 Saturday, 36 Sunday, 18 Monday and fly out Monday afternoon. Scheduled to play all 5 courses and Trails a second time (it was the earliest available Monday AM so I can get to the airport on time)

Hey guys - long shot here, but.. Does anyone know a local photographer that would come up and spend a few hours with us one day?

Or maybe as an alternative - a caddie that's known for filming some shots, taking pics, etc. - ala https://www.instagram.com/caddie_whisperer/

Never used her myself, but friends did and it worked out well.

Oooh, great idea.  I checked out the photog 2BGood mentioned above and her rate for 18 holes is $600 and 9 holes is $400 (for 4 golfers - bigger groups cost more).

An extra $100 each for a full set of photos from a nine hole stretch (I'd probably pick an SR day for the views) sounds like a real option.  Thanks for the idea and link!

I'm not seeing what you are with $100 extras?  $400 for 9 holes includes the photos.

Gorse is blooming! Hoping I get the same when I'm there in 362 days

I have done combined about 45 days of February trips. I have to say it is my favourite time to go. Pricing is great, weather is great and the courses are more dramatic that time of year.

My first trip was in early December and I loved it.

My 2nd trip was in late February and I'm never going back. Blooming gorse, usually warmer weather, less rain, and an extra 2-3 hours of sunlight.  The ability to stop at our rooms, change socks and just chill for a little bit vs jumping on the shuttle and basically jogging to our 2nd round tee box was a game changer.

Went to Pinehurst this weekend. Great place, ton of courses, nice hotel etc. Halfway through my final round I couldn't help but think to myself I kind of miss Bandon. Bandon is just on another level and I was going to Pinehurst thinking it may de-throne Bandon, for me, it does not. Also, shoutout to bandon's reservation people. You can call them 5X a day and they will still be awesome with you. I got what seemed like a lot of attitude for making switches at Pinehurst.

Here's a few screen captures this morning from the resort's webcams that provide a little reality check for those enticed by all the sunny weather over the last few weeks and thinking February/March is always a great time to visit.  I'm heading down there Wednesday - Sunday.  Looks like the weather will be better, but still not great.

Old Mac looks stunning!

joking aside I have played Old Mac in fog like that, you could not see the green from more than 100 yards out. Pretty fun, if you let it be. Great part about Bandon is playing in the weather is part of the fun, and it rarely lasts all day.

Yes, have been watching course cameras all week. Pretty harsh but love watching everyone willingly head out into the storm:) For the first time, though, I did see a guy on PD #1 yesterday grab his bag and head back to the clubhouse while the rest of his group went off. Now he may have forgot something, but he had the look of someone that came unprepared for the journey they were about to embark on.

During our trip we had 1 round that was like that. It happened to be at OM. First 4 holes were gorgeous with sun and clear skies. I swear to you, in the span of playing #5, it turned from blue sky to fog so dense you couldnt see more than 100 yards. Light rain and fog for the next 6-8 holes. We couldnt see the ocean at the halfway house between 7 and 8, but all we could hear was the roar of the ocean. Honestly, it was pretty surreal. Then around 14 the skies opened up and the rain came down in earnest. Got a full Bandon weather report all in 1 course!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good place to stay for one night between Bandon and Eugene?  I will be flying out of Eugene and want to get some of the driving done after my round of golf on my last day at Bandon.  Thanks for any help!

Just do the whole drive.  If you've ever driven back to Portland after 36 holes (me unfortunately), it's not bad.  Plus there are very few places that are on the way.  Even in Eugene there are no hotels by the airport.

Edit - anyone fly into Medford?  Thinking about trying it next time.  Looks like there is a hotel right next to the airport and drive seems about the same as from Eugene, maybe more interstate even.

My last trip was booked into Medford. Unfortunately, had to cancel. But I asked the same question on here and got a few answers. Nothing negative. I will be doing it this fall. Seems like a no brainer to me for my flight options.

The drive from Medford is about 30 minutes more than from Eugene.  Can't imagine there are more flight options into Medford than Eugene, but neither are very big airports.

Depending on where you're coming from, the seasonal direct flights on United into North Bend from Denver have begun, I think

I did Medford on a trip in 2018.  Overall, not that much different than Eugene. Drive is easy,  flight options are similar, lodging near the airport is good and there's plenty of restaurants if you spend the night there (there's a RAM near the airport and lodging). The one issue I had when trying to book Medford for subsequent trips is rental car selection.  It seems unusually limited and expensive there.  Overall I just prefer Eugene, the drive is more scenic and it's a little shorter.

Used to travel a ton for work and when I flew into Eugene I thought it was maybe the perfect regional airport. Its large enough that you can get big boy jets in there - and a large number of flights. But its small enough that you can walk from your gate to your rental car in three minutes. Cant imagine I'd change a single thing next time.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised going from the airplane to the rental car so quickly. It's a long enough trip for me so that was nice to get on the road right away.

I'll echo what has already been said. Eugene is a closer to Bandon than Medford.  Medford's airport is in the city so there are hotel and food options while Eugene's airport is on the outskirts and in an industrial area so there are no hotels or restaurants nearby.  Besides DSG, there are no golf shops in Medford.  Fiddler's Green is very close to the airport in Eugene in case you need to pick up balls, etc.
