I remember his rookie year and I was a volunteer at AT&T Pro AM. He had a foul moth then, since then there have been numerous professional the use colorful expletives. When I miss a three footer and have an urge to swear, I will look around for the cameras first.

People forget that Tiger only had a one shot lead after the first round in 2000. He was -6 and there were a ton of players under par. By the end of the week he was the only player under par. DJ was -6 going into the final round in 2010 and Gmac won at Even. The course usually gets tougher but this week the wind is supposed to be tame. It's really anyone's guess at this point. The USGA will probably screw the course up trying to make it play tougher to make up for the lack of wind.

I don’t see the course stiffening up. The high is 60 degrees, partly cloudy with no wind all week. It’s not going to dry up. Weather will be a non factor.

Good to see Mid-Am champ Kevin O'Connell in the field. He got very sick in the Tuesday practice round and had to be carried off the course. He's even through 11. Rooting for him.

Why can't we just enjoy greatness? the course, the players, the lone cypress, Samuel L talking.. Come on!! This is awesome! The US open is my fav major every year.

As best I can recall - it's been a handful of years - the majority of them don't have huge bends. 8, 10, 15 and 18 are the ones that stand out in my memory as being the toughest ones; all of those but 15 slope hard towards the bay. What makes them challenging is how tiny they are and how easy it is to get into trouble if you miss.
