I don’t get it either. The 760s are exactly what some are asking for but want them to be called 790s.

The 760’s look terrible IMO and the top line is nearly as thick as the P790 IMO.

And? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you’ll never get a razor thin top line on a hollow iron and I highly doubt TM is gonna get too far away from something that was a huge success just to pander to a small handful of people. They did it already with the 760. I doubt the new version is gonna be dramatically smaller in any regard and I’m banking on foam being in every head.

I had the 760’s for a quick minute before switching to Apex Pro 19’s, now I’m waiting on my Mizuno’s to come in. I have problems yes but aside from that, the P760’s were some of the purest irons I’ve ever played, if I could go back in time I would have never sold them for my Apex Pro 19’s and I probably wouldn’t have ever gone to the Mizuno fitting.

With that being said, you’re being enormously picky, the top line is not as thick as you think and the iron plays like a blade with the chamfered leading edge.

People are literally on here asking for another P760....

Oh really? How about the i500 irons. Nice try though.

Anybody having issues with spin on the shorter irons (8-PW)? For the life of me I'm trying to spin them but they continue to roll out on greens. Went from JPX 900 Hot Metals to P790s and the roll out is night and day. Also went from Modus 105s in the Mizzys to Modus 120s in my P790s but my fitter and club builder said it's not the shaft. He mentioned that the foam in the short irons has led to the spin issues and that others had mentioned spin problems with the short irons as well.

I have not had any spin issues in shorter irons.

But the Modus 120 is lower launching/lower spinning than the 105.

You are not alone, it appears that many have issues with the spin rates on the short irons, they attribute it to the 'SpeedFoam'.

P780s would be perfect!

That was my worry too, but my builder said 120 has actually been higher spin/launch than 105 for most of the ppl he's fit them into. Also Nippon has the 120 both higher and lower than 105 depending on player...

Sounds like you should be playing the TP5 and not X. I have had no issues with my irons..

I struggled with the 8-iron thru PW as well. I then bought the P760 8-PW and the problems were pretty much solved.

I think the spin played a role in my issues with the P790's 8-PW, but it was more the launch angle was too high.

I hit my 7-iron about 180-185 yards. With the 8-iron I would I might hit it 165-170 yards...and then I might hit it 140 yards. If it was into even the slightest breeze...fuhgetaboutit.

The 9-iron and PW were ridiculously short. I would hit the 9-iron 145...tops. More like 135. And the PW about 120-125 yards.

So I went to the P760's in the 8-PW. I hit the 8-iron about 165. I still have some issues in the wind, but a slight breeze may knock that back down to about 150-155 yards instead of 130 yards. The P760 9-iron goes about 145-155 and the PW goes about 135-140 yards.

The P790's got so bad that I brought my Srixon Z945's with TT DG X100 shafts and was hitting them a little further than the P790 short irons.

That is one of the most baffling graphics I’ve ever seen a shaft company use.

So, the 120 is low to mid, and the 105 is mid ... but the 120 “mid” line is significantly higher than the 105 “mid” line? If you are going to show a range, show the range for all compared shafts. And if you are setting the ceiling for one shaft at “mid” then don’t show it significantly higher than a different shaft rated at “mid”.

And because the 120 trajectory and spin will vary with each golfer’s unique swing ... as if the 105 won’t?

Obviously I can’t speak for everyone, I can only relay my own personal experiences and observations: the 120 is heavier and more tip-stiff, so it launches the ball lower and spins less than the 105.

Definite difference between the two heads, it has absolutely nothing to do with the back of the 790 being cast though.

Doubling Down on this feeling as well^ my guess is pictures will leak somewhere near Fedex Cup Playoffs time, and announcements of the official products to come shortly after.

They look identical to the old one. Different logo and a little more compact.

That and head size (and some low spin gossip)

certainly happy with my current set P760/P730 combo

kinda considering adding P790 4iron but really that badge thing does not suite my eyes
