I've played Titleist drivers since 2005. I just got a TS3 with the white evenflow T1100 shaft. I love the look, but sure shocked by the sound. It's the highest pitch impact sound I've ever encountered with a Titleist driver. I've let a couple others hit it just to verify and same result. I like a more muted sound. Anyone else find this with their TS3. Seriously considering selling to get something else.

I've got one and it sounds and feels great. Definitely a compressed softer feel. I think the shaft has a lot to do with sound. Ive got the Tensei AV 55 Blue X-flex and have no high pitch sound.

Im curious how much shaft choice influences sound.... I love the look, but got to improve the sound some way. Thanks for your input.

I’ve got the Smoke shaft and mine Sounds Great! More importantly, best looking and best performing driver I’ve ever played!

Get the settings correct, and I’m betting the sound won’t be an issue!

Im not sure what can be done in terms of settings...Performance is fine with the selected setting, just a hideous tink sound sound at impact..lol

Tensei Blue currently, but I’ve experimented with others. Never anything close to a tink. Mine feels soft and sounds muted.

So that's leads to my next question. Could the head be flawed? I bought it brand new 2 weeks ago and have played 1 round with it to date.

Heads not flawed.. I game a TS3, and its my 2nd TS3 head due to the adjustable weight being stuck in the first one. Sounds the same, I go back and forth from a Hzrdus smoke and tensei pro white and there is an extremely loud ting, ping, or fing.

 

So loud that at the range old lady’s go home, lol.

Hit it next to a 915 and you'll quickly realize how much they've improved the sound. I love the 915's, but the sound, mainly with range balls, is enough to give you tinnitus.

My son has the same setup, TS3 and Whte Evenflow XS

I have not noticed any 'off' sound/pitch from this driver.

I have a TS3 with some speeder shaft and played with a kid with a TS3 and a white evenflow and the sounds were the same to me.

 

LIke above, hit the 915 and youll hear the difference. This has a much better sound compared to the 915. I have both and TS3 wins me over everytime!!

For the record, I've owned ever Titleist driver since 2005 (as stated in my op) including a 915 D3. It was nowhere near the metallic tink as this TS3. If it were, it would of got it's walking papers..lol

 

So, is the TS4 suppose to yield a more muted sound?

If you think the TS3 is louder than the 915, you either a) have a defective TS3 or b) need to have your ears examined. If we put up a poll, I'm quite sure it'd be over 90% in favor or the TS3. Just out of curiosity, what ball are you using?

Pro v1x ball being used. Heres a couple of pics of the head. Does anything send a alert as possible fake? I purchased from a pro shop off this site. I had bought from them before with no issues.

not fake just super loud head and very unforgiving but high ball speeds for sure

I personally love the sound after playing the 917D3. This driver seems to be a lot easier to hit and I've just found more consistency with it. This one stays in the bag for a LONG time

Get a shot of a 915D and compare the two...the TS3 will feel and sound so much better in an instant.

For those suggesting the comparison of a 915 and the TS3, I've owned a 915 D3 (as mentioned above). There is no comparison in MY 915D3 that i owned and MY TS3. Now, that's what I'm trying to figure out is something is wrong with MY TS3. This is The worst sounding Titleist driver I've ever owned and I've owned every series made since 2005.

When it's pure, it's one of the best sounding drivers of the current gen. To me, it's like a soft "crunch" with a lingering "ting". Like the ball is being absorbed into the face before being spit out as a projectile. Which I guess is literally what's happening..

 

However, similar to other great sounding drivers like the Cally DBD, when it's not pure, it sounds pretty bad. The DBD sounded like a tin can on toe hits, but the TS3 sounds like a screaming banshee. The TS3 is way more forgiving on the toe, but yeah if you aren't flushing it, it is not super pleasing to the ear. The ball still seems to end up in a good spot, but it just adds motivation to pure the big stick.

Not happy I would take the driver back and say it doesn’t sound right compared to other TS3’s. I’m sure Titty will replace it.

If that is the case, then I would be starting to lean to there being something potentially wrong. Having hit every Titleist titanium driver (basically, the 975D on), I have never hit any that sounded as bad at the 915.

I would contact Titleist, because I have seen "Chinese Edition/fake" Titleist 917 drivers with Diamana shafts in golf shops in Hong Kong, in 2018. The heads and shafts are both 'alternative' (not to be sold to non-Chinese).

Maybe Titleist could track your TS3 serial number.

I think it's a matter of strike honestly. I had the TS3 as soon as it came out and immediately noticed that off center, and I mean anything just missing the center, was punishing to the ears and ball flight. I was super disappointed since it was so good on the simulator indoors. I prefer the TS2 for feel and sound, but when you do middle the TS3 it does sound pretty good, there just isn't much forgiveness out of center.

I have defintely seen different shafts effect sound/feel in there own unique way. Some make the pitch higher and some make the feel dull, etc.

I thought the TS3 was definitely loud. I sold it and got a TS4, which sounds a lot more muted (softer) than I expected. I'm loving the TS4 so far.

Ok. Just to address the strike on the face, I've had one off center hit in the 18 holes I played with it. It's easy to see ball imprint on this new club face. Also, the other 2 golfers that hit it are better players than myself and yielded same result.

 

I just got off phone with Titleist and did verify serial number to be legit. So it's not a fake. He suggested removing weight and reinstall. He also stated this shaft might be the reason for the sound...He wants me to contact a Titleist account and let them look it over, so I guess that's my next option. Again, I'm the biggest Titleist fan and hope this gets ironed out.

I’m in agreement with the OP.

I do think the TS3 does sound high pitched and slightly “tinny”.

It does make it sound quite hot though and it feels like the face is extremely fast and responsive.

I don’t see how shaft can determine the acoustics of a driver though?

Feel yes but the sound ?
