Ping I210 Replacements

You’re being too literal. Clearly there are differences in the irons other than sole. The point is that if you narrow the soles, there isn’t much differentiation between the two irons.

Also, if you’ve ever played the irons, you’ll see that the 8-PW in both sets are extremely similar. So “not even close” isn’t accurate either.

Not to be a buzzkill, but PING has had iBlade 2.0 trademarked for years. I’m sure a replacement is coming, but as I’ve said, already been trademarked for a while.

Yes, pretty much all of those have been trademarked for quite some time now, it also doesn’t always mean that they will release it, they’re just claiming the name that’s all. ?

Bummer...no i220 yet. With the lack of a price drop and no trademark registration, I may need to give up hope on i220 any time soon.

As the ping trademark page explains, that list is not comprehensive.

Looking through the trademarks on USPTO.gov a few things jumped out:

1) There is no i220 in sight.

2) Ping published iBLADE 2.0 "for opposition" on Jan 8. 2019. A common pattern I noticed was they file about a year in advance and publish for opposition about 6 months in advance. I would have guessed iBLADE 2.0 should have been released ~July 2019.

3) These terms are registered:

"G710": Golf clubs; Head covers for golf clubs

"PING 2021": Golf clubs

"G410 MAX": Golf clubs

"G425": Golf bags; Golf clubs; Head covers for golf clubs

 

I wonder if G425 will be the G410 successor eventually.

I wonder if PING 2021 are actual clubs or a marketing campaign for clubs.

I'm in the camp that thinks they got it right with i210. It's pretty much everything we've asked for all these years - clean looking, plenty of tech, not as clunky as previous i-models, playable for the 0-15hdcp. It's the #1 iron on the LPGA Tour. I would not want to see a major change, just the usual incremental stuff.

Also...I've had mine for 18 months or so. They still feel new in a lot of ways. I appreciate the ho in us all, but these things will last me 4+ years. I'll probably be in the market for the i250 lol.

I am thinking that the i210 may become a cult classic - the i series iron evolved to perfection.

Probably why Ping is not rushing a new iron out - current one has great pro adoption and probably very difficult to improve upon in a meaningful way.

Have the i200's and love them, but thinking of getting i210's, just because. Will likely do Nippon 105 in them, again. Last two sets have had them and seem to fit me very well.

Was fit into AWT 2.0 R. Was in between AWT 2.0 R and S, both gave similar #s so went with the smoother feel. Also tried Nippon 105, Project X LZ, and a couple others. AWT was definitely the best, which surprised me. LZ was a close 2nd.

No idea. Just noting since there was a i510 on their trademarked names list there would eventually be one. They can improve on those I think, but for what they are (in the right hands) they are really good irons.

I feel the same about the i200s. Love the 210s, but not enough to fiddle with changing out my 200s, and I've had them since their original release... so they've got a lot of miles on them. I'd probably consider whatever the next gen is going to be called

I love my i210’s. I honestly don’t know how they could improve them. I will play these for several more years.

Just reduce the offset in the 3-5 iron and retain the proper swing weight ports and they have got a perfect set to my eye.

Some glide3 in black finish asap would be helpful also....

not to be an total stickler, but I believe the one applies for a trademark, then once the uspto analyzes it (For blatant violations, think a sportwear company spelled “Nikey”)to grant it provisional protection then the uspto is the one that published for opposition. After publishing, other companies or individuals have a set time (6 months? 12 months?) to contest the mark if said company/individual believes it infringes upon their mark.

You are probably right...I know nothing about the legalities. I was just looking at the timing patterns for the two events. Based on most of the other clubs I looked at from ping going back 5 or so years, iBlade 2.0 stuck out as not following the typical pattern. If they would have released last summer with the Glide 3.0, it would have fit right into the typical pattern. As to why that is, I suppose that is anyone's guess (outside of Ping HQ).

I've been hoping for an i220 but I have no complaints with the i210s based on demo experience. I'll just have a ton of buyers' remorse if i get the 210s and this summer, they release an updated version

Sadly, that is what happened to me with the i200's. I love them, don't get me wrong, but as soon as I pulled the trigger the i210's came along. @kinger22_2005 just be patient...unlike I was =)

I have a fitting on 2/22 and am interested in the MP20 MMC's or something else in that same player's cavity type iron. But if the i210's are the best fit, I may have to tell him I'll be back this summer and will start the season with my Apex.
