Im just saying that they should stick to facts to protect the privilege of free speech. As in we don’t want to see news men and women convicted of slander or defamation while reporting news , that opens up the can of worms of censorship ending freedom of Speech.

Reading your list of requirements to prove defamation makes me think that you think Brandell is libel here ? I think he’s closer than many here will agree with.

 

He is stating something as fact that the tour says isnt fact. Right ? He has told this to a third party. Us. And he definitely is helping fuel the fire to harm reputation.

What do I think? I despise the Brandel Chamblee/Stephen A Smith brand of “journalism”. Ooh, look at me! I’m so edgy with my comments. So keen! So witty! Cutting edge and hard hitting and all that. Chamblee plays the expert better than he played golf. Don’t get me wrong...he made the tour an even won an event. But rather than reporting on golf events he attempts to make himself a part of the story. He did the same to Woods a few times. I can honestly say I do not recall his comments towards Phil at his “cheating” moment. Did he skewer him as well or try to justify it?

I can’t say for sure , but I don’t recall him being hard on Phil. I agree with you on all counts there. Stephen Smith will cause the Chanel on my tv to change quicker than anyone. Literally a waste of effort trying to listen to him talk.

Right. I almost said that Brandel is smart enough to know who not to trade too many barbs with. Phil isn’t the guy you want to cross too hard . In many ways his reputation is squeaky clean compared to Tiger. ( no need to point out Phil’s flaws. I’m well aware ). And he’s sharp tongued enough to shoot back in a way that will hurt.
