Home Confinement = Golf Spending Binge?

Between rainy weather and “social distancing”, has anyone else found themselves on a Golf equipment ordering binge? In the last week I’ve ordered new irons (MP-20 MB), wedges (SM8), net return pro w/ mat, and flightscope Mevo. It’s been a classic WRX cycle. I had been wanting the new irons. That of course led to wedges. Naturally I need a way to get them dialed in while I’m stuck at home, right? Throw in some spring duds from Greyson clothiers and you have a very busy UPS man. I can’t be the only one, right?

I recently joined a local club that I might not be able to use for a couple months, so that's my major purchase that will help me keep from straying too much into retail or elsewhere.

People can do what they want with their money but I suspect many are going to be conserving cash right about now and avoiding leveraging credit. On a call this morning a colleague revealed that golf courses are shutting down in Austin, TX now. So if true before long there may not be places to play anyway.

I'm not saying you did. But you're asking about others as well as yourself. Some - like yourself - will still be buying and of course there is nothing wrong with that. But others may work in more volatile industries and what is going on is creating uncertainty and doubt and in those times many conserve cash and/or don't extend their credit. Which is also ok and understandable.

whether or not it is a good time to be buying equities is a precision for each to make on their own. I understand why some might thing it is a good time to buy, I personally do not. But that is for private messages or other forms of communication.

Funny, almost described me to a tee. Except I started early February for my birthday....but all the same things as you except a net, because my house backs up to the local clubhouse/driving range, so no need for a net. Did get some other things though, but irons/wedges/mevo matches you exactly

bought a F9 Driver and 3w on FB Market for super cheap; traded them in with 50% bonus and military discount for a new TM Sim or under $200.

I actually just bought new PXG 0211 irons, almost new CBX wedges, and a new G-410 4 hybrid in February (birthday month). If I can find a deal on a new G-410 5 wood, great! Otherwise, pretty done (not replacing my G400 Max or Circa 62 any time soon). Now, if the market does heat up I could put my G-700 irons and G-400 3 hybrid on the WRX!

The confinement got me again, I have 5 dozen Snell MTB X and 6 Titleist Perma Softs on the way. Might also be due to the fact that I am in a golf mindset in Minnesota and my early April golf trip to Scottsdale just got cancelled. :(

I wouldn’t want a shipment at this time. How long can this corona virus live on a cardboard box or inside on its contents? I don’t know enough about it to feel safe accepting packages and handling them. I’ve heard it can live on surfaces for three days, but as much as they don’t know about it, I’m not taking any chances.

 

If I did get a package, I’d set it in the garage for a few weeks first. Why take the chance? Can’t play for quite a while now anyway.

Sorry, was just trying to make a joke. Whether it is a good or a bad time is up to each individual. I believe the bottom of the market for 2020 is in the future, not the past. Bit I do understand some see it differently. Either way it is irrelevant to me because I don’t believe in the Efficient Market Hypothesis. But this is not the place for that. It was a joke I shouldn’t have made and am sorry for creating two distractions from the OP’s thread.
