Finally! I found my anti-left hybrid!

Got out one more time today before the NYC lockdown. Same results. Missiles, nothing left. Hit it 5x in the round. 229 GUIR on par 5, 242 FIR off tee, 231 on par 5 that left me 75 in, 221 just right 1st cut into wind off tee. 218 into stiff wind on long par 3 with a GIR.

I love this thing.

I have never hit a hybird that didn't go left till i tried my buddys apex. I never thought i would hit a hybrid that my miss is actually right. I switched out my 5 wood for the 2 hybrid and love it.

If you can swing the new price, ordering it flat makes it even less draw prone. Iā€™m really happy. Rakuten has 3-8% cash back on callaway, so that helps a tiny bit.

Wow, just took a look at the apex specs. 2019 and 2016 models are 2* and 1.5* flatter than my current 4-hybrid. Interesting because I play my irons at 1* flat of Mizuno standard putting my 4i at 59* lie. How should lie generally progress from 4i to 4hybrid? I would imagine that it should be flatter than the iron right?

For me, I wanted the hybrid to be AT LEAST as flat as my irons. But you have to account for the influence of club LENGTH on the lie angle.

Longer clubs need to be flatter by design because how we hold them, and this is how lies progress through a set.

My longest iron right now is my U500 4-iron. Stock lie is 61, I play 2* flat so call it 59. This is at 39ā€ In length (1/4ā€ over standard length)

By comparison, the apex hybrid 4 is 58* lie, but at 39.5 in length. To be honest, my understanding Is lie and length in longer clubs is -1* of lie for every 1/2ā€ (someone can correct if Iā€™m wrong).

So the 4 hybrid would actually have the same lie as my iron, at least in specs per length. That said, I typically play all my clubs flatter, and this was because I get zero toe dig (would happen if clubs were too flat) and it makes my ball flight perfectly straight along my alignment.

So, I figured taking the apex to 2* flat of standard would be idea, especially considering I usually miss it left. Result? My turf infraction has been perfect and my shots are straight.

What Iā€™m saying is that the stock hybrid lie is actually in line with my 2* flat irons from Titleist, but itā€™s improving my strikes dramatically to be even a bit flatter.

Obviously everyone will be different. But it certainly worked for me.

Congrats on finding your hybrid. I found mine a little over a year ago, and oddly its very similar. Im using the older 2016 Apex at 20 degrees. I've cut it down 1 inch, which also flattens the lie angle by 2 degrees. I've got added weight in the head from an aftermarket weight kit. After having the lefts with what seemed like 40% of my shots, I only hit this thing straight or with a slight cut.

Exactly. Cutting off the inch flattens it and is effectively the same strategy.

If you tried the max hybrid it is not anti-left. The pro is a different model, there are three models of the hybrid, Youā€™ve only tried 2. The pro have even has a different shaped head

I've got just about every anti-left hybrid there ever was, including Apex and M3 set to fade. When I look back at 20 years of statistics that I kept, far and away one hybrid was clearly the best. The rescue 11 with 65g RIP stock shaft. I still had it in my closet and dug it out. It's not as forgiving as my M3 but I still can't pull it left.

I threw midsize grips on my 915H 21* and 24* and it solved the left issue. They were already a bit toe weighted now it's magical.

I knew I wasn't the only one who struggled with hooking hybrids. It was the only club I fought a hook with it was maddening! I finally found one that after some review reading said helps lessen a draw. Titleist 816 H1 with it dialed 1 degree flat. All the other hybrids I've bought (Nike Vapor Speed, Cobra F8, and Taylormade M2) you couldn't adjust the loft or lie angle. Game changer and not my hook miss has only turned to about 10 yard draw which obviously is playable.

Thats a brilliant discovery. I play every iron set 2* flat since I started getting fit for clubs almost 10 years ago. My putter cant be flat enough, lol. Too bad we cant get FW's and Driver's built like that, of course the pro's sure do. I know some FW's and Driver's claim to have adjustable lie angle's but it doesn't seem like the same as what Cally is doing with that Apex hybrid. Congrats & thanks!

Iā€™ve fought the hybrid hooks since the first one ever hit the market as well! I picked up the Apex Pro Hybrid at the beginning of last seasons and it has been incredible! I had it bent 2 flat from the factory as well. I have no issues with a big left miss and it has become one of my favorite clubs in the bag! A must try fore anyone fighting the hybrid lefts!

You actually can have certain fairways and drivers made flat. I had Taylormade flatten my 3 wood from the factory. PXG and Titleist also have flat settings on their drivers and fairways.

I'm neither a hybrid guy nor a Callaway guy, but I test everything and I have always loved the Apex hybrids. Compact, neutral set up, nice feel. Not big on distance but that's usually not a factor with hybrid.

Completely true, no doubt about it. But when lie is too upright, you naturally get right to left curvature (for a righty). Compared to irons, most hybrids play upright, and even more so compared to more player type irons.

For someone who misses left, especially if they typically play flatter lies, this could be a big piece of the puzzle to adjust.

For me it was. Itā€™s been huge. 5 rounds with it and I still havenā€™t left. Just straight and can even work it right when I needed.

... and my turf interaction has been spectacular.

I'm happy for you. It's a joy to find the right equipment to fit your swing. So don't read the following...

If you look at Callaway's player irons, like the MB for example, for each 1/2 inch longer, the lie is 1/2 degree flatter. So the 2 iron at 39.5 inches has a lie of 59.50. If you follow this same system into the hybrids, a 2 hybrid at 40.50 inches should have a lie of 58.50 degrees. But it doesn't. It's 57 degrees. So the players hybrids are ALREADY 1.5 degrees flat. If you ordered it 2 degrees flat then you are almost 4 degrees flat which is A LOT. If it works for you GREAT. However, I think most good players should avoid the temptation to fix one problem (fear of left) by creating another (improperly fit lie.)
