I totally get that.  Right now for me, I am messing around with length and lie angle.  I have been 34"/70º for many years.  I bought a MiniGunboat at those specs and one at 3º up and 33", so the latest two are coming at 33.5" and 2º upright.  I have also been playing around with the weights as well.

 

At some point I can summarize my findings on all of this.

I am going to pass. Just picked up a MySpider X. Blew my wad on a Proto Driver with a GD AD TP and Gen3 0311t’s. Done spending for awhile. 
 

I bet this new putter will be very good! I know I will end up with one for Christmas!!

Are the inserts in Gen 2 putters soft as the last large mallet putters Scotty Cameron released which I did not like since they provided no feedback when you hit the putter?

Gen 2 have a milled face and no insert

The PXG putters are 100% milled - the face is a diamond shaped milled pattern.  If you are talking about the Phantom X - my Mini Gunboat is a touch heavier feeling and the feel from the face is a touch softer.  The PXG putters are not like the Odyssey micro hinge insert.

 

This is all a matter of opinion.  In my book the PXG putters have great feel.  The only issue is getting the weight correct so you can have touch.

How does the Gen 2 putters compare in feel to Bettinardi 2019 Studio Stock putters?

 

Can you tell if you hit the ball or does it just feel like a solid hit but no idea if you hit it off heel or toe?

They DO NOT feel like Studio Stock putters whatsoever. I am with ajlacombe that PXG putters just feel solid. Selling my Scotty Special Select and that is softer that the PXG, or maybe just different. I really liked the feel of PXG... just a solid feel with a TP5 ball. Also agree you have the get the weight right. I did struggle a little with that in my Gunboat.

You can definitely feel where you hit the face. Nothing better feeling than a Gen 2 sweet spot.

Has anyone else ordered the PXG Blackjack putter?  I was wondering what your estimated build time was.  Mine shows 21-Oct-20.  I ordered it as soon as you could and the site says shipping 13-Oct.  I know they are putting a 20 day estimate on Gen2 orders when they are entered, and then get built sooner, but wanted to see what others were seeing.

Have to admit, I have tried just about every PXG putter out there, with the Operator being my favorite thus far. I'm thinking that Blackjack putter just might unseat it.

Has anybody called PXG and asked them any questions about the armlock Blackjack offering? I'm looking for more info, website doesn't provide length details, etc.

I noticed tonight that Lydia Ko was using a black center shafted V-line type putter with four weights lined up in a row on the bottom behind the face at the U.S. Open. Face was the pyramid pattern. Directly behind face looked raised with white line stretching to back while sides were flat. Kinda like an inversed V-line look. I'm a fan of center shafted putters, so hoping this rolls out in Gen 4 releases early next year.

Saw a Closer Gen 2 at a local shop and rolled it pretty nicely.

 

So I looked it up on the website. $245 new.

 

But the one in the store had what appeared to be a graphite shaft in it. No label, not markings. Nothing. And I can't find anything on the PXG site about the shafts at all.

 

Is that really graphite on all of them. Is steel available ?

When I purchased my Gen 2 Mustang I was told the shafts were KBS. Give them a call and ask to confirm, they will tell you.

I'm presently playing the Evnroll ER22, I was thinking about taking a look at the Closer or perhaps the Blackjack

I'm curious about the comparison in regards to feel & stability along with overall impression ?

I've never gamed an Evnroll (I have rolled them before and while the tech story always seemed cool to me, I just always thought that they felt too "harsh" to ever try and game one) but I'm a big fan of the feel and quality of the PXG finishes.

 

I currently game a Gen 2 Operator and IMO it is like a premium milled version of a TM Spider. Similar shape to the Spider Tour (the new Blackjack is probably closer to the footprint of the Spider X) but with a (IMO) much nicer solid/milled feel (since yeah, it is a milled putter instead of a TM insert putter) that also has a just generally higher level finish from the materials (instead of the chip prone paint jobs on the TM Spiders).

I had a Gen2 Closer in slant neck. 

 

I wanted to love it, and it was really nice, but I just dont putt well with anything heavier than 330g it turns out. I took all the weights out and it still wasnt light enough lol.

 

Not the putters fault, it was really nice
