Long term Stability Putter shaft reviews

My grip is 88g.

So would adding 33g of leadtape to head be same as trying a 55g grip?

*Found out the previous grips weight before stability was 81g so only 7g difference.

The 55g suggestion is just a recommendation from one poster. Adding 33g is going to be a ton of tape.  4" of 1/2" thick tape will add 1 SW point. If you cannot adjust the head weight through changing weights, I'd start slowly building the tape up until it feels good for you.

Way too much to lead tape the head.

88g vs 81g isn't much difference, but if you went back to a 75-80g grip, the putter head feel will improve.

Question. Why don't I see many PGA players using this shaft? Perhaps marketing hype to target people who think they can buy their game?

They’re starting to pop up on tour now. Louis Oosthuizen has been using one for a month or two now. Breakthrough Golf Technology actually just posted yesterday on their Instagram two more putters they built for him with the Stabilty Tour shaft.

Young up and comer Doc Redman has been using one since last year.

Austin Smotherman won the Korn Ferry tour tournament last weekend with one.

Based on their Instagram, it seems there’s more Korn Ferry guys using it right now than PGA tour but it’s a start.

I have been using the stability tour black shaft for 2 months now.  So far, I have had to have the shaft changed out twice, due to the shaft rattling where the 2 pieces meet.  The second replacement shaft started to make noise after 2 rounds. And no, it’s not me.  I baby my equipment and it is nothing I have done to cause the rattling.   I am done with this shaft.

Definitely odd.   I have 4 tour shafts with a 5th on the way right now and I’ve had no issues with any of them.  Installed all of them myself with zero issue.

The first was a new build. The second was a replacement shaft.  Both came from LAB Golf. The shaft is the stability tour blackout shafts.

I think I'm going to give the OG shaft a try while the price is low on a Ping Redwood, just want to get the hosel reamed out first so I can fit a shaft on. Figured the 340g head with feel heavier in the OG without being a sledgehammer despite me liking a heavier head.

So I have been using a Stability Tour shaft with a Toulon Austin putter head for over a year now and have been very pleased with it. Getting it to feel balanced is obviously key, and like others have said, if you are using a heavier putter head then a heavier grip or counterweight should be explored. The Austin head weight about 345-350 grams and i have a Lamkin deep etched grip that weighs around 80-82 grams, playing it at 34”. This head weight-grip weight combo gave it a very balanced feel and it’s been my gamer for over a year. Just an fyi for anybody curious, Stability Tour shaft weighs 110 grams compared to the OG Stability that is either 115 or 120 grams, can’t remember the exact weight on that 1. Biggest difference I have noticed is a much more consistent strike and start line, but that has led to more consistency on speed control with mid and long range putts. The shaft won’t make a bad putter a good one, but for me, it has been a noticeable difference. I enjoyed the feel from the first putt I rolled with it and that hasn’t changed.

Before doing this, identify if the grip weight is causing the issue. Too heavy a grip and you'll lose feeling in the head. My rule of thumb is 360g or less putter head should be accompanied by a grip 55g or less.

Whoa, 55g is extremely light for a putter grip. Unless the head weight is around 330g and the putter is a minimum of 34”-35” in length you’re going to end up with a putter that feels very unbalanced, in my opinion.

The only grips I know of in that range are your larger SuperStrokes and the like (i.e. FlatCat) which are made primarily of foam.

I have two identical Odyssey O-Works Black #7 putters with the Stability Tour shaft in them.  SuperStroke Traxion Tour 3.0 grips and 75g CounterCore weights installed.  One is my gamer the other is my back-up and practice putter.

The reason I have two is because the first Stability Tour shaft I got broke when my bag fell off the golf cart onto some cement.  I was distraught.  Immediately went on Ebay and bought another putter and two replacement shafts and built them up.

That’s how good it is, I don’t want to be without it again!

All the other shaft companies are now copying them which should tell you that there is something to it.

I have/had a stability standard, tour, polar, carbon and the fire.  The fire is the same construction as the polar with a diff paint job.  The tour doesn’t have the “vibration” dampening that the polar and fire do.  It doesn’t feel any different from the tour in the same head I’ve had most of them in.

i have a mixed opinion from 2 putters and i feel like it's related to the head weight, or the head type.

I had a superstroke grip on a latrobe (50g sole weight) and felt like the putter was completely dead with the stability shaft in it. I changed to a 40g flat cat, saving about 30-40g on the top end and it feels better. Not completely happy with the feel though, i think for that putter head, the shaft is too heavy.

On the other hand, L.A.B D.F 2.0 mallet with their signature grip and stability shaft works pretty well. it makes the whole putter feel very light and "1 piece". I prefer to feel the head, but it seems to work in this combination.

I forgot to ask.  What's the weight of the Fire?
