This was the big move this week! Wanted to try and different wedge setup, so figured I’d give these beauties a shot.

 

Really liked the TM MG3’s, and my wedge game has been really good this season. But the Low Bounce 60* was really only good on tight lies and dry fairways, but struggled with every other type of lie. And the 56* was amazing for chipping, but it was too big of a yardage gap on full swings between the 56* and the 50* Gap wedges I’ve been testing this season.
 

Not that big of a fan of the rusted faces on the MG3’s either, but that wasn’t make or break.

 

Another club on the way from the good people at Callaway Customs…hopefully gets here before the end of the season!

Now I will admit I have so much stuff actually junkpile finds I forget I have them. The Muirfields in my signature I have had for darn near 4 years and forgot I had them. Found them by accident one day and discovered they were an oddity because they had Black Label TT R shafts. Took them on a vintage round the next day and they hit good. They were special order and who ever set them up knew their stuff. I did check lofts and lies and they were on spec and so I have not messed with them as they hit great for me. Do not even have lead tape on them which is unusal for me. Those are really junkyard gems. Found them one day in a bin when I worked for a metal recycler

Very interesting. Well, this WITB thread is my version of your notebook pretty much.

 

Only difference is that everyone on WRX can see how much of an insane Club Ho I am, Lol!

Cant go wrong with SM9s. I have them in 50/54. Tried a few 60 grinds but nothing can knock my hi toe 60/7 out 

Still haven’t tested the TSR Driver, but the Cally Rogue ST Max definitely beat out the TSi2 for me.

 

Yeah, I’m really excited about the SM9’s…they’re absolutely beautiful, and they felt fantastic with the few swings and chips that I hit in the backyard early!

 

Have a tournament tomorrow and putting them straight into play…can’t wait!!

Here’s the new addition to the bag for the last few rounds of the season!
 

Decided I didn’t practice enough with the 3-Wood, or use it enough on the course to be able to hit it well. So going in a different direction, and this cross between Hybrid and Fairway Wood could end up being really good hopefully!

Definitely took your advice, and others that have raved about the UW. Figured if I'm going to try an experiment to get away from the 3W, it was as good as any other place to start. Time will tell...can't wait to get it on to the range and the course!

I'm very excited to hear about the UW.  I feel like I build one every week and put it in my cart on Callaway and never hit buy.

 

And I mean if it can stay in your bag then we know it must be good!

 

Let us know playability/forgiveness/distance.  I want to go 17/21 then into my 4i so bad...

Got my first range session in with the UW yesterday and my first round with it in today.

 

Really like it so far…definitely plays much more like a Hybrid than a Fairway Wood. It’s like a Hybrid with a longer shaft, and similar ease to hit off the Tee and deck as my Hybrid 4.

 

What I’ll have to figure out over time is what the differences are in distances and shot types between my Rogue ST Max OS 21* Hybrid 4 and the 19* Apex UW. Based on today they might have been a little too close/similar, but it was a wet/mucky day on the course and it was tough to get a great evaluation of anything on this type of day.

 

In the long run I might end up picking up a 17* UW to test out and see if it pairs better with my Hybrid, but we’ll see how it goes.

I play the 17 for that exact reason. It’s maybe 6-8 yards shorter then my old 15 degree 3 wood when hit on the screws but if you took the average of both after 10 shots the 17 uw would have a way higher average as well as dispersion.

Makes sense. Yeah, I was torn between ordering the 17* and the 19*. I thought the 17* might be similarly demanding to a 3-Wood, but in hindsight I kind of wish I went with the 17.

 

We’ll see how it goes in the long run though, time and reps will tell.

In all seriousness though, I’ve tried a lot of different long irons and Driving Irons, but the ZX was always one I was curious about. Let’s see how she thumps!

Have you ever tried a 4 wood (or 3HL)?  Whenever I’ve tried one I’ve found them so much more friendly than a 3w, with minimal loss in distance. Maybe one for a future experiment?

I’d have to look back at this thread, but I think I had a SIM2 Max HL for a brief time, and I had a Stealth Plus 3W & TSR 2 turned up to 16.5*.
 

Next experiment is already on the way in 17*…praying for a quick delivery so I can try it out before the end of the season!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Zx Utility 4 might be my favorite club in my bag. If you don't get along with the shaft don't hesitate to swap it out for your iron shaft or something similar.

Man….I put it in play today for the first time and absolutely LOVED it!! So freaking good!

 

Even though it had a Standard grip that was too small for me and was slipping out of my hands, it was still awesome from the rough, the Fairway, and the Tee! Going to be a go-to for me in a lot of situations too, and went straight to the golf shop after my round to get my preferred grip thrown on!

Best utility out. I have the 2 w/ Hzrdus black RDX and it’s amazing.

Yeah, the ZX is the best Utility or long iron I’ve tried for sure…dynamite early results!

 

Haha…no, Srixon irons aren’t in my cart yet. The early results with the AP2’s have been good so far. Still in the process of figuring out yardages and shot types with each club, and coming from ‘21 P790’s they are obviously a huge change.

 

I loved the feel of the ZX7’s when I hit them well, but I’m not 100% sure the V-Soles were really the best fit for my swing.

Here is the latest tweak to the bag. Really liked the 19* Apex UW, but found the yardages and shot types to be too similar to my 21* Rogue ST Max OS Hybrid 4. So instead I ordered a 17* UW from Cally Customs again with my preferred Tensei AV Blue Raw 75 S shaft.

 

Put it straight in play today, and it will definitely be really good once I get it dialed in!

 

End of year and Demo sales starting tomorrow, so have to decide whether to fight my Club Ho urges and try to stick with my bag as it is now, or what clubs I’ll pick up to test out…decisions, decisions! 🤔😎
