Iomic Golf Grips-Are they worth it?

1221

Recommended Posts

Looking to re-grip my clubs and want something not to pricey. However wondering what Iomic grips are like. I play in wet weather alot of the time so not sure how the sticky grip would hold up.

Will probably end up going with Tour Velvets as they are the cheapest option from Golf Pride but want to try Iomic aswell.

I love my Iomic Sticky Mid grips.Β  They are almost 2 yrs old now and still in great shape.Β  All it takes to keep them fresh is the occasional hot water rinse and towel dry. They last forever, which makes the slightly higher cost more than worth it.Β Β I just wish the Sticky Mid was easier to come by.Β Β

Iomic's are well worth the money, especially on the driver. They can be washed with soap and water, they're very durable and wicked tacky. Variety of colors, textures and sizes. I recently put on the putter grip for the first time and very impressed with that as well. Be aware of the cheap knockoffs on eBay, literally smell like gasoline and not even close to the real thing.Β

Have not tried Iomic, but did have Pure DTX for a full season.Β  Really loved these grips but ditched them as they were very slippery in hot/humid weather.Β  In my region we have a long period of high humidity.Β  I ended up having a towel at my side at all times...wipe grip and hands just before shot...became a real pain.

Β

Lower temps and lower humidity = I love them.Β

Β

Went back to a full cord Zgrip.

I always used to grip my clubs with iomic grips back when they were still available here in the US.Β  Their hq in Japan still runs the show, but have closed down their US branch so you would have to get them imported and the shipping is ridiculous.Β  Ebay is the other option as seller are trying to get rid of the last lot of their Iomic grips.Β  I love how tacky they are.Β  They are not as soft feeling as the No1 grips which I like but not as hard as Golf Pride grips.Β  You can also wash them with warm water and soap and after they dry, they become tacky again.Β  Problem is that No1 and Iomic grips seem to wear out much faster than their harder counterparts.Β

I just replaced my grips with iomic sticky 2.3 grips and love them.Β  I got burned trying to save a few dollars by buying on ebay.Β  Were super fake.Β  In fact, studying them more, everything on ebay and several recent sets on the BST here were fakes as well.

Β

Iomicusa.com is where I ordered them.Β  That's iomic's direct site and the only way of knowing you are getting authentic grips.Β Β

I was not aware they still had a direct website where you can still buy grips.Β  The info I got was from a reputable club fitter/builder who is a sponsor here.Β  He carried Iomic grips in the past and I asked him a few years back if he could grip my driver with one and he said he can no longer get them because their US branch supposedly went bankrupt.Β  I guess I should've been more detailed with my response.Β  I did check out the website and checked online to verify authenticity.Β  It looks g2g.Β  I will be ordering from them shortly.Β

Not a fan.Β

Β

To me, the IomicΒ always felt great right after getting put on, but that feeling didn't last very long. A couple of rounds in, the grip always felt very used, even after a thorough cleaning. In wet conditions, they didn't perform well for me at all.

Β

That said, I have used their putter grips and I would echo the positive comments from others. Excellent putter grips.

I've played Iomics for the last 5-6 years, and they are awesome. And I've been ordering from their US website for years, too. One you buy from them, they'll email you specials they run several times a year, from 10%-20% off.

And I've bought a lot of legit Iomics on Ebay. If they are really cheap, they're fake. But if you're paying close to retail, they should be legit. And Ebay is the only place to find some of their Japan only grips, or more color options.

Recently switched to No1 Pro series, as I wanted something a little firmer, but still use an Iomic putter grip.
