Options for Wide Toe Box Shoes

Looking for wide toe box shoes for golf.  Currently getting good performance from Merrill hiking shoes (Viburum) due to the hard sole, and also reasonable comfort with Altra (but soles here not quite as sturdy for my liking, and they aren't particularly stylish either).

 

Any suggestions?

I just googled morton's neuroma last night.  A friend might have it.  Hope that resolves for you soon.   

 

Try Ecco or True or maybe those new ones, Squarz.

That's what I wear for my wide toes.  They didn't used to be wide toes.  They were quite slim but something changed, almost overnight, when I hit 50.  A lot of my shoes no longer fit.  My foot got longer and my toes got wider.  

 

And for sneakers, walking, or running, Saucony Cohesion are fantastic.  Fit great and last a long time.  Just go up a half size if uncertain.

I found the same thing last year. I had been wearing Ecco 43's for a number of years but hey started killing my feet. Going to 44 got a little loose in the heel so I ended up with a couple of pair of Tue OG in size 10.

I currently wear eco and they rub the crap out of my toe.. I am currently on the hunt for for a extra wide golf shoe... I special ordered a pair of fj prosl carbon in a 11.5 as that is my reg shoe size... they were a little large.. we now have a pair in 11 as well as fj tour x in a 11 and 11.5 in the extra wide on order 

The prosl were still a little tight in The toe box in a extra wide... new balance are supposed to make a wide golf shoe...i tried a pair on last year and didn't like them ... if I can't find any fj that will fit... I plan to have my ecco stretched a little 

Skechers is supposed supposed to make a wider golf shoe as well

Why not try wide/2E shoes in models you already like? The difference between a D and 2E width is predominantly in the forefoot and toebox areas, with little difference in the heel area.

Another vote for Sqairz. Definitely have a wide toe box. Very comfortable and super traction.

As someone who has a morton's neuroma as well, I'd be careful with a lot of the Ecco shoes. Ecco shoes are great in terms of width of the toe box and quality, but don't have a ton of padding (at least the ones I have used), which can cause the neuroma to flare up.

 

I'm trying the new FJ Stratos this year. Similar to my Ecco Biom Hybrid 3 (wide toe box), but seems to have quite a bit more cushioning.

Just wanted to add one more thing to the conversation.  My morton's neuroma hasn't acted up for about a year.  I thought it was probably the wider toe box shoes I started using, but the past few days I've been back with my older Eccos and no issues.  It's possible that my switching to toe socks (Injinji) has also helped (maybe a lot).  It's all I wear now and my toes/feet feel great.  FYI.

Glad to hear.  My friend has a stress fracture, not neuroma.    You can switch out the Ecco insoles for aftermarket ones.

Another vote for FJ Stratos.  Big, roomy shoe with good cushioning.  Maybe not the sleekest looking shoe but who cares!

I think your best bet is either True Linkswear or Ecco Bioms. Both are designed to fit wider in the toe box and normal through the rest of the foot. 
 

I tried wide versions of other shoes but found them way too wide through the heel and mid foot.

I have not found this to be the case. All the wide shoes I’ve tried have been wide everywhere, not just toe box and forefoot.

I have found New Balance to be a very comfortable both in a running shoe and a golf shoe.  Their golf shoes have two different wide sizes, 2E and 4E.  Their fresh foam insert is like walking on a cloud.

Check out the new FJ Hyperflex, they run very wide and I know the black and grey is available in wide widths.

 I tried the ECCO BIOM and they felt great in the store.  Played 9 holes and had blisters on both ankles.   Wore them around the house for a couple days once I healed up and thought they were good to go.   Had blisters on both ankles again  after 3 holes and finished the front barefoot.  Not really happy with my $249 purchase.

I just bought a pair of FJ Traditions. Not as comfortable as I had hoped.  Might have to send them back.  My other FJs fit great.

If I need it to be wide in the forefoot, but narrow through the heel, does NB fit like that?

I have the 2E ones and I wouldn't say the heel is narrow, but it isn't extra wide.

+1 Footjoy Stratos. Incredibly, incredibly comfortable. Hope they keep the model in the line up for a couple years and make a true white version as opposed to the off white.

I tried on a bunch of shoes this morning.   

 

Footjoy hyperflex wide toe box, narrow heel.  Lacking some lateral stability. Comfortable. 

 

Pro SL - narrow toe box, narrow heel. Fit similar to Nike Rosche.

 

Pro SL wide - wide toe box, slightly less narrow heel.  First time I ever tried on a wide sized shoe.  It wasn't nearly as wide as I thought it would be.  

 

Pro SL wide felt the same toe box as Hyperflex medium width. 

 

Addidas 360 xt wide toe box.

Appreciate all of the responses. Great information.

 

I’m finding my Eccos (couple of years old) lightly tied are working well, and I’ve gone to toe socks and that seems to make a big difference for me with my Morton’s neuroma.  Odd as it may sound, talk socks really have seemed to make a difference for me.

 

I have ordered a pair of athlalonz so I’m looking forward to giving those a try

NBG2004 and NBG2005 all the way, comfortable and available in 4E. New Balance isn't flashy, but they are strong, waterproof, super comfy, and cheaper.
