Had a much better round on Tuesday.

 

Tidier 42 on the front, playing with a lovely Grandfather/Grandson pairing.

 

2 birdies (on 7 and 9!), 6 bogies and 1 double (compounded errors on a par 3).

+7 through 16 holes in a twilight round. Game is in a good spot right now. Played with a bunch of friends and that was better than the golf itself, really enjoyed it.

37 front 9, and 43 back nine.  Heat index was 110, and I legitimately thought I was going to throw up at one point.  Hottest weather I had played in previously was 114 F in Phoenix, but today felt like a different level.  Everything was working pretty well, but just found it hard to focus towards the end of the round.

The slide continues - a 95 with 7 OB/lost balls (14 penalty shots right there). We have rough that would make the scottish open rough look tame in comparison, which means that unless you say exactly where the ball landed, it's blind luck if you find your ball.

 

In my defense, it was around 12 deg C, and rain with a 2-3 club wind rendering umbrellas useless, on a relatively exposed course. Will head out again tomorrow, where the weather forecast says it should be drier and a tad warmer...stay tuned.

Not my best day yesterday morning, 44-42, 86. A few big numbers which I managed to avoid in more recent rounds. Did have back-to-back birdies near the end, so we'll take that positive into the next round.

Much better round yesterday - 87 which is a marked improvement compared to the last three rounds. Striking the ball much better, and left a few strokes on the greens. Only 3 lost balls (6 penalty shots) and on two of them 'parred' the second ball. Fighting a left pull and when I try to compensate - lose it way right. Little disconcerting as it also affects my iron play and that is new for me. I would love to pound balls on the range but an arm injury won't let me but the fact that I can still play I'm not complaining.

103 last night. Thought I was going to break 100 for the first time and got giddy on the last 3 holes which screwed me over haha. Had 3 pars and 3 bogies on the front which is unheard of for me so I'm definitely making some progress. Was a great night to be out last night too.

First round of golf in 5 years yesterday. Started with Triple, Double, Double then proceeded to birdie the par 3 4th. Ended up shooting 91 on a par 72. I was starting to break 90 more regularly when I stopped playing so yesterday's was a pretty good round.

 

I hit the best shot of my life on the 8th: 190 yards into a par 3, 10-15 feet from the hole, then 4-putted for a double bogey lmao.

 

It was a lot of fun.

After a horrible round of 85 at a local Dallas Muni. 7 three putts! (Lol Crying Inside) I shot a 75 the yesterday at TPC Las Colinas. A much needed ego boost after losing a few bucks to the homies. Don't know how much longer I can handle this heat. Starting to melt the bottom of my footjoys.

I scratched out an 81 today with the driver yips. Not quite Charles Barkley but the comparison has been made. Made some nice pitch shots and chips to save par but also had a good birdie opportunity and 3 putted for bogey. Played with a friend who I've known for years but have never had a round together. We are both in construction so I called him about a project he had worked on. Turns out  we were both finished for the day so we met up and had a great time and both shot pretty near the same score.

Played a narrow tree lined course at 6800 yd today……2 lost balls…….a lot of suckage…………44/53 > 97 😞

Small senior scramble (as a threesome) yesterday with one other good golfer and a new guy that contributed more than he expected.  We finished first at -10 and a closest to the pin (me). New guy missed the other CTTP by a foot.  Two pure eagles, one each for me and the other regular.  New guy saved us with two longish birdie putts.  New driver and putter were HOT! I was past most of my regular landing places and in the fairways much more consistently.  480-490 yard par 5s were driver and 7 irons.

 

I haven't enjoyed a round as much in the past year.  We were laughing and high fiving a bunch.

Played a course at 6478 from the whites . So I chose 5 holes to move to seniors , took about 200 yds off. Shot an 87 but had 3 3 putts on greens I hit regulation. So no complaints other than my putting. Chipped better than putted.

developed some weird left pull with my driver on the back 9 which I never did figure out and played the whole nine from the left rough. No Idea!

101 today. Shot below 50 on the back 9 which is a record for 9 for me.I also finished the round with the same ball I started with. 1 par, 8 bogies, 3 doubles and 4 triples for the round. Had 5 putts lip out which is annoying. I'm getting there!

Played my first round in 16 years this evening. Shot a 60, but the second half of the round was far better than the first. I only used six clubs - driver, 7 iron, 9 iron, PW, LW, and putter. I'm really struggling with my irons, but I think I will hit them better once I get them regripped. I feel confident that my next round will be far better, and I'm eager to work on improving my game. Only lost three balls, too. I'm a lot better than I was when I was a teenager!

Shot an 80 (43/37) for an 8.7 differential which is my first single-digit differential out of the 25 rounds I've played this year.  It was on a course I'd only played once before some 4 or 5 years ago and with my typically poor putting (32 putts).  The thing is, I don't know what contributed the most to my "good" score.   I used my "backup" set of irons and wedges for the first time in 10 rounds.  I used a new (for me) driver (Cobra LTDx) - I just received the head yesterday and didn't even hit balls at the course range before playing.  Plus, this was the first full round trying Bridgestone B RXS balls.  Go figure.

39? For 9 from a forward tee. Had two birdies including a 40-footer. Finished double double which sucked but played a last round with a golf buddy before he moves away which I appreciated.

42/40 = 82 from the white tees today. 
 

I was telling the buddy I played with that I’d have been really happy with an 82 this time last year. Now it feels like I should score better. Doubling both 1 and 18 probably added to that feeling today. Could have been an easy 79 at least. 
 

I’ve improved my short putting a bunch recently. I only missed one that I should have made today and made a bunch of short ones to save pars.

Played this par 37 9-hole course today and I shot 42, which is very good for me.

 

I'd say this is a beginner course: hardly any water and very few bunkers. Every hole is one big fairway in which the grass is taller than a typical fairway but shorter than rough grass. The greens are super slow. It's a short course too.

 

I can't control my driver to save my life so it never left the bag today. Instead I was hitting my 15.5-degree 3-wood on every par 4s and par 5s and it turned out to be a great decision as I was in a good position the whole round. Another great decision was to club up on approach shots. On this one particular approach, my instinct was to hit a 9-iron, so I picked up an 8 instead, but since the ball was above my feet and I had to choke down, I changed my mind at the last second and hit a 7: I hit the green hole-high. In fact because of the tall grass, I clubbed up the whole round and it paid off.

 

1 birdie, 1 double-bogey, 4 bogeys and 3 pars.

Shot an 85 today (+4). Temps 10C, 2 club breeze and rain showers. Not complaining. 36 putts where I left a lot on the table plus tricky club selection due to the wind. Dumped on us on the last two holes which cost me a stroke on each. Biggest plus - finished the round with the same ball!!

45-39, 84 from a hybrid tee setup on a semi-private course I've not played before. Possibly the fastest greens I've ever played so the first couple holes were rough but proud of my lag putting on the back half. Plus it was a free round so I can't complain.

77 Sunday in one of my best ball striking rounds (statistically), but one of my worst putting rounds in awhile. That was about the highest score I could've shot.

 

13/14 FIR (just above my avg 11 FIR)

13/18 GIR  (well above my avg 8.7 GIR)

 

BUT ...

36 putts (my avg is 31.3)

Lots of 4-6' putts that I didn't make, that I usually make a few of. Not only did I not make them, I was way off my line and not even hitting the hole. 

 

Diagnosis - too much thinking on those shorter putts.
