43\43 - 86 with an eight on par 4 17th.

One 3 putt. Iffy short game.

40/39 for 79. Feels like its close! Took a 7 on a short par 5 on the back; got cocky and tried to cut a dogleg. Caught a tree and OB. Short game practice is paying off, at least today, as I dropped a few close and saved par with a couple other chips. One three-putt, which is a nice improvement.

44/44 for 88 on Monday.

Just so everyone's clear, my local course (4x9 holes) has five sets of tees, from shortest to longest: red, green, white, yellow, black. I have enough distance to play from the yellow tees but I'm far too inconsistent so I always play from the whites, which is 5,841 yards. The 18 I normally play is rated 69.0/121 from the whites. I figure unless I can shoot high 80 on a bad day, low 80 on average and can flirt with breaking 80 here and there from the whites, I should probably steer clear from the longer tees.

On this particular round, I just couldn't get off the tee box. Normally my 3-wood off the tee is a safe play, but not that time, so I had to scramble on a lot of holes. My score sheet was all over the place. I did get a birdie on a par 3 and had a 4-hole par stretch. Closed the round with an eventful double bogey.

The positives are that this was my best back nine this year and that I found a way to break 90 on a bad ball-striking day, i.e. I chipped and putted well for my standards.

41/38 79 on a par 71 only hit 5 greens. Hit most fairways. Birdied the last hole so made a few bucks.

Played a local bucket list course that I'd never think I'd get the chance to play, shot a seasons best of 86. Nothing really notable on the score card, no birdies a few long birdie chances that I happily walked away with par's and no real blow up holes besides a double bogey or two just kept a level head and used the members advice. But man playing a private course is something else, I'll add some pics.

Shot 80 at Los Serranos on the South Course on Saturday.  It's brutally long at over 7600 yards from the tips which is where we played.  Par 74.  Slope 137.  Two par 5's 598+yards long.  If you guys are ever in LA county, I highly recommend Los Serranos as it's well kept and hosts a bunch of qualifiers for am tournaments both local and national.

Played the back 9 for the first time at Eastmoreland and it's a fantastic course. I need to make time to play 18 for sure. I was second out at 6:20 and was told if you start after 10 it's a 5 hour round. Hard pass. 🤣

I am trying to figure out what course this is. Islington? Markland Woods? Maybe Lampton?

Close, it's Weston first pic is hole #2 from the back tee boxes, the second pic is middle of the fairway on hole 9.

I do want to see if I can on Islington, Markland or Lampton for a round one day, tried to join Lampton but they have like a 5 year wait list.

Ah didnt think of Weston. Looks good.

Yeah wait lists for clubs in the GTA are long right now. Golf is healthy.

It is and they're increasing their prices a ton too, I almost joined Brampton until I found out they were redoing 16-18 and didn't want to pay their current asking price to play 15 holes.

Shot an 86 that felt like a 96 yesterday. Fighting against my swing, but if an 86 is as bad as it gets, then a couple small tweaks should get me back on track.

Played a very cautious nine holes, returning to the course after L5/S1 fusion on May 5, with my surgeon's blessing.  A very steamy, monsoon Phoenix afternoon. Used the forward tees and easy swings. Was even until the humidity nuked me after 7, finishing 3 over. Just happy to be back. Plan is to play nine holes once or twice a week, until snowbird buddies return, and we play eighteen and gradually moving to longer tee boxes until then. Happy Camper!!

79, and not happy with it. Pretty windy and some intense showers, but as preparation for the club championship - I dont mind the rain.

Irons and wedges were very skinny all the way around.

Careful! That’s what I thought after 84, 82  then an 86 last three rounds.

That thinking caught up with me yesterday with a, dare I say it,,,,,,,102!

Going out tomorrow for revenge.

Working my way back after shoulder surgery 8 months ago - trifecta of torn rotator cuff, labrum and biceps. Even though I’m still working to get distance back, shot 82, which is respectable for my game. Only my 2nd round since surgery. Par 70 course and very even round - 41 front and back, 4 pars, 4 bogeys and 1 double on each 9. Doubled the first with a horrendous 3 putt after thinning a tight lie chip to the far side of the green. On the back, doubled a relatively easy par 5 with a topped 3 wood followed by just missing the green on the short side, but deep in the rough. Chunked it and was still off the green. 2-3 birdie putts that just missed, but also sank 2-3 par putts from 8’+, which is really what saved the round from a total disaster. Golf is hard.

Working my way through Monte’s No Turn Cast series and have already found something in my lead wrist that I think will help. Anxious to give it a try.

So I played four times since last time.

1) Saturday: All things considered, played some of my worst golf with a 102. It was either thin, hard pulls or slices off the driver. I was lucky to shoot this low considering there were tree lines on every single hole. Hit a few that bounced back in play. I actually pared the two toughest holes on the course, so go figure...

2) Monday. Some of my best golf ever. 2 birdies. Shot 39 on the front 9: first time under 40 for 9 holes. Shot 83.

3) Today. +11 after the first three holes. Managed to finish at +18 for the round so I'm very pleased at how I regained my composure after a complete nightmare of a start.

4) Today again. Yes I played 27 holes in the same day. Not much to say. Shot +12. I drove pretty badly. I putted like an 18 handicap, which is a nice coincidence since that's what I am!
