What'd You Shoot Today?

+7 through 16 in an impromptu twilight round with a buddy, 41 through the front nine. Really good time today.

A rough +14 for me on my first round outdoors up here in the Northeast.  Swing felt good since I spent a lot of time on the simulator this winter but the focus really started to fall apart after 12-13 holes.

• two breakfast balls I re-tee'd without penalty 
• six 3-putts

Lost some money, because I had to give 9 strokes to someone.

Lowest round in a few years.  Lots of high 70s.  Shot 38 36 for a 74.   Even had a double bogey. 4 birdies. Only had 27 putts.

39-41 from the senior tees in prep for a club net tourney tomorrow.  I’m currently at 14, so that was really fun. Birdied the first hole, a par 5 after being just over the green in two. Figured out some things to improve my game too.  A new view on course management taking driver out of play on 2/3 of the holes severely improved the fairways hit.

At 65, I hit a drive measured at 290 yards which just blew me away.  Sitting just in front of a par 4, 319 yard in one. That made me realize driver isn’t really a necessity to score well on this course.

I shot my lowest score of the year today with a 76. I have been struggling with my irons lately but had something click the other week. I also decided to break out my MP 60's last week and hit them better than I thought I would. Had some key up and downs and made some key putts to save par. The 76 was also the lowest round I had ever shot with the 60's.

The wind picked up later in the afternoon, but it was gorgeous.. 

 

I am in northern Cincinnati area (West Chester)..

45 - 45, 90 on a semi-private. Not a terrible round overall, but some bad holes. Just looking forward to being able to practice more soon and convert that on to the course.

70 with 6 birdies on a dinky little par 69 drive pitch and putt course. I made three birdies in a row twice.

I can't recall the last time I made 3 in a row if its ever happened. I know I haven't done it twice in a round. I'm also not sure if I've ever made 6 in a round. I know I've made 5 in a round before and probably more than once.

 

The last 4 or 5 times I've played here I have shot low 80s and haven't made a birdie. Given how easy the course is you can't put into words how down I've been about my game. Shooting 80-83 here is worse than bogey golf handicap wise. Not sure what clicked.

Had a chance the other day to get out for a super twilight round.  Was supposed to tee off at 4:45 but rolled up at 4:35 and no one was there so off I went.  Decided to play from the tips. Got to hole 4, par 5, and hit my drive with a lot fade into the trees. Walk back to the cart to put the head cover back on the driver and the driver and the shaft broke right at the hosel.  
I finish the front from the tips but decided to move up to the senior tees for the back nine. I finished 44-44. Which is the first time was ever sub 90. I thought breaking 90 would be more exciting, but essentially playing 2  nine hole rounds instead of 18 made it not seem like I actually broke 90.

Played two balls round our front 8 yesterday. Positives. New driver is super forgiving, A balmy 14 degrees so hitting less into greens. Hit four irons in a row within 10 feet. Chipped in once. 

Negatives. Greens have been dressed and cored. Putting is a lottery. Still muddy. 

2 over with both balls. All is good.

Very pleased with today’s round. Papago is a beast from the tips. Just look at the par 3 yardages 🤣

Missed the bogey putt on 18 to tap in for a cool 100. After my last round of breaking 90 for the 1st time, I expected a higher score, but it would have been nice to be lower.  I hit my driver better than I have in years (maybe ever).  Long irons were ok. Inside 100 was bad overall, 4 skulled chips and 2 duffed.  I did have 4 balls find water, some of which I didn’t know water was there… I putted ok. 1 four putt and 2 three putts. I did up and down for par three times, once form the sand.  It felt like I played better than a 100 round, but numbers don’t lie.

40-43…pretty happy with that. Qualifier: from 5,200 yards, so not as solid as it seems. 😁
 

Course was really wet from two days of torrential rain. Happy it was open for play at all! 
 

Visited no bunkers or hazards. Got lucky to miss a pond I did not know was there from the tee box. The waterlogged conditions helped me there. Greens almost unputtable they were so shaggy, slow, and soft….but again, this time of year it’s good to see greens alive. 👍🏻

Been playing with some older guys lately and they play the senior tees so I've joined them.  It's not that much shorter but the psychology of it has me playing very well.  Shot 75 today and did not putt well.

Hit my driver well today and also made some nice par saves. Shot another 76 but with my more forgiving Ping iE1's. Had 2 double bogeys, a bogey and a birdie. Little wind but the sun came out.

Man I just had a round like that. Shot an 88 too with a 48/40. The biggest kick for me was I had a snowman on back to back holes where I just couldn't get it together.

32 for 8 holes. 6 pars, 2 bogeys. Cold and damp and greens are a couple of weeks behind schedule. Bumpy and need a good rolling.

Shot +7 today, really disappointed.

 

I was -1 through 6 and really happy with that. Then proceeded to bogey 7, 8 and 9 to make the turn 2 over.

 

10 was a driveable par 4, hit into a greenside bunker and didnt get up and down.

 

11 wedged to about 8 feet, didnt hole the putt.

 

Made two solid pars on 12 and 13.

 

14 was a reachable par 5 where I was thinking play the hole well id get one back, and then proceeded to hit two balls out of bounds. 5 off the tee, ended up making an 8.

 

So im now +5 through 14, all the momentum has gone and enjoyment has gone, so i then go bogey bogey 15 and 16, finished with two pars.

 

I reckon if i had birdied 14 and not gone 5 off the tee, i would have shot maybe +2 or possibly +1, instead the round just fizzled out.

Played cart path only due to the severe weather and rain the past few days here in the Midwest. Standing water everywhere and debris filled greens. Couldn’t play the traps as they were small lakes.

 

Usual 86- 44/42 with a double (6) on 18. Darn-it!!!

I shot a 3 over 38 my first outing this year. Being a consistent bogey golfer last year, this 9 hole result is fantastic for me and my new swing (which I'd been working on all winter).

44-38, 82. Bookend bogeys on the back, but seven straight pars felt pretty good. Greens were still sandy and bumpy after the aeration two weeks ago and most of the course was a mud pit from all the recent rain. Hope spring comes soon.

79 yesterday. Driving was great but the game got worse the closer I got to the green. Greens worse than midweek. Bumpy, scant growth and aeration lines and holes are deflecting putts. On positive first round of year in short sleeved shirt and trees are budding up nicely. Matchplay this afternoon....different putter in the bag.
