My wife is just a casual golf fan.  Has no idea who Pressel is.

 

we watched last weekends tournament.  Great tournament.  But she could not stand Pressel’s voice and her inability to stop talking and watch the golf.  
 

I hope it’s only an occasional job.  Much better to listen to the other announcers and analysts

Morgan Pressel is an angel.  She has dealt with a lot and keeps ‘being there’ for others.  I LOVE HER MIC TALK.  She is candid and offers the Pro view and course insights.  Very different voice from Judy but that is ok... if we all sound the same how would we know who’s talking... I can be across a crowded room and when Morgan starts talking, I tune in. Girls Golf Princess of Fun  :-) and no, I don’t know her. I do appreciate her work.

So Morgan's on commentary again this week - is she retiring from tournament golf? Is she injured?

 

I'm a fan, has some interesting insights.

 

I agree that her voice is a little shrill but that will be coached out of her. Interesting that they have her on course this week and this requires her to speak softer which is much nicer to listen to.

 

One key problem with the LPGA coverage is that they have to fill in time - as an example, just watched In Gee spend a minute cleaning her spikes. This is why you need more chatty commentators so I am fine with Karen Stupples, too.

I love watching theLPGA but the commentary is short of awful.  Morgan can’t say anything worth listening to   If you can’t be honest with what the viewer is watching your not an analyst. She needs a speech coach for sure.  Listening to her voice wears on me.  Sorry but it’s the truth.

I will admit Morgan's voice is more tolerable when she's on the course.  I think it's because she's trying to be quieter out there and she sounds better that way.  But....Karen Stupples still just talks everything to death!!!  The woman never shuts up & constantly refers to "Jerry" like they're the only two on the course.  (I know....they are a "couple")

It seems like Pressel and Stupples are taking turns on the course when Judy is in the booth.

Seems like you and I are the only ones who think Stupples talks too much....kinda surprised Foltzy is with her.

 

Do you remember all the DRAMA & WHINING on social media when Wilson dumped Karen in favor for Russian golfer, Maria Verchenova.

I like some English accents when spoken by females and Stupples to my ear speaks nicely (she's from Kent in southern England) - maybe her accent isn't so  appreciated by others and hence the amount of talk from her grates. Personally, I think Judy Rankin speaks about the same amount of time and no-one comments on that.

 

Again, because the limited amount of players being covered in LPGA rounds vs PGA rounds, there is much less footage of actual golf shots and so to avoid dead airtime they have to chat and comment more. I like Karen's, Judy's and Morgan's incites, I think it adds to the enjoyment and much rather have that whilst watching In Gee clean her shoes waiting on a tee for one minute than have nothing.

I'm 180 degrees apart.

One of the reasons I like watching the LPGA is BECAUSE of the announcing.    It's totally the opposite of the frat boy, testosterone overflowing men's coverage.

I generally turn off the sound when I'm watching the men.   But I'm at peace watching and listening to the announcers of the LPGA.

Pressel, Stupples, and Rankin bring knowledge.   Foltz brings the details.  

 

You notice that when a stranger smiles at you, you can't help but smile back?   I can "hear" Grant Boone smiling at me during his telecasts.  

Kindness.   It's all there.

Back when Grant Boone first started announcing, and on another very popular chat room at the time, Grant was known as the "inane announcer".  He has matured over the years & isn't as inane as he used to be.😄

I'm with you.  The LPGA tour has created an "inviting" atmosphere.  The men's PGA tour has created a vibe that is uninspiring to me.

I miss having Terry in the booth with Judy, as they made a great team for years. However, Grant has definitely grown into his role. No complaints whatsoever with his work.

Her voice has softened over the last 12 months but yes, it can be a little shrill. Her voice works better when she is on course as she has to lower her volume.

 

But non relevant golf analysis - you really think that? I don't.
