Yeah I'm also getting some pulls too, especially with wedges

Yea I just need to do less with the hands coming in, and even less towards the ball.

Hopefully monte will chime in to help us combat this result 🙂

It's in one of the lessons. Mostly an adjustment of what the hands had to do before to square it, versus what they have to do now.

This discussion is about a major issue ams have with getting better.  This applies no matter what positive change you make with any instructor.  You have a compensation in place for a root cause issue.  That matches….most of the time🤪.  You make a positive change and now the compensation no longer matches. You have to be patient as your body/brain come to realize that move is no longer needed and adapts to the new pattern.

Out of curiosity would that apply to EE? I've been working on shallowing the club and had hoped that by shallowing the club better I'd rid myself of the EE. With that said, I'm definitely shallowing the club better but still EE. Could that be because my body/brain hasn't realised I don't need to EE anymore?

Nice job Monte - being a former hockey player, love the slapshot drill.

Where did you film it ? Would be a nice backdrop for wedding pics if i never decide to get married again.

Haven't looked at it yet - but will sometime very soon.

Just came to say I don't remember what the original cost was to join Rebellion as a "founding member" - but I'd pay it again.

Conceptually the best video series I've watched. Love the mental image of sweeping with a broom over a long path - really has helped me practicing out of the bunker the past couple days to have a longer, shallow path thru the sand.

Love the drills and feels they impart, but my biggest struggle in the full swing is to go from top of the backswing->transition->to the position most of them start from. Counter intuitively I seem to get more stuck behind when I try to feel the cast towards 8.

Anyone have a reco for that part of the swing? Just keep hammering on NTC?

Possibilities:

1) You're out of sync in the backswing - too deep, too long etc.

2) You're dropping your right shoulder when do cast A

3) You're dropping your arms too deep behind you when you cast

4) A combo of all or some of these

I struggled with getting a good feel for cast A for awhile. The wall drill, where you drag the butt end of the club down a wall behind you, really helped me get the feel and better understand cast A. Monte has a drill for this on his IG feed.

As an NTC junkie, the Broom Force series really resonated with me. I've only watched the first few videos and haven't even done any work with a broom, but the feel of accelerating the hands/arms first from the top has really helped me with my main issue of spinning out my shoulders. It has made it much easier to bring my hands down versus out from the top and seemed to help synch everything up better. Also felt like I had a surprising amount of increased club speed with less effort. All feels and needs confirmed with video, but undeniable difference.

The unloading of the vertical hinge (cast A) and the horizontal hinge (cast B) is where things really tie in with the NTC. Really think this is going to help me expand upon the improvements I've made with the NTC over the past 9 months. Looking forward to the broom work and other drills to help get that long flat spot in the bottom of my swing.

Yeah 2 and 3 seem pretty spot on. I've sometimes had success thinking of it more as a cast to 6 in my mind than 8. But I think I'm probably dropping too far and as a result getting that left shoulder up/right shoulder down movement trying to save it.

Just make the move with your wrists.

Agreed, the part of the broom force that addresses  2 and 3 is keeping back to the target as you bring the arms down. It's covered in the NTC as well with the bump/shift, but for some (err all) trying to do both simultaneously can be hard, so this sort of presets that aspect of opening up too fast. I for sure suck at it lol

Yeah, totally. Finding the correct timing for the bump and dump is where the magic happens.

If only it twas so simple. Doing all this in motion as the tough part. T

Drill it. First stop at the top, make the wrist move and then go. Then sloooooowly make the entire move.

You can't make changes at full speed that you can't do at slow speed. Give your brain time to rewire.

Go slow and eventually it'll start to click.

Never thought of doing that:-)

And once it clicks it goes away again, comes back, goes away, then comes back to stay. Then rears its ugly head again. But MAYBE you recognize it and know how to self-repair by then.

Improvement, it ain't linear.

I love the hockey reference. I get what Monte is trying to do with the slapshot drill for helping certain people. It doesn’t apply to me, but I can see it helping some people like in the lessons.

I noticed that from a face on angle, Monte looks like he’s performing a wrist shot when he goes through his broom motion. Down the line I am sure it’s not exactly the same as the follow through in a wrister is slightly different and the top hand is doing a different motion. Funny how the motions in sports are different, but yet similar.

I love the video. I enjoy seeing the lessons and how these drills helped to improve real players, even if they don’t all apply to what I’m currently working on. It’s super helpful to understand the swing and when/how to create more speed. I never looked too much into the latest theories in improving swing speed as I am still working on consistency with my ball striking. But Monte’s video made understanding this topic pretty simple.
