So the local Roger Dunn guy said he can get it for me from the other store. However he told me the retail was $1299. I know it’s $750 so it may be an honest mistake but he said he’s going to try and track down the 35” and the 34” if someone else buys it.

I’m hoping he just made an honest mistake, but gonna he disappointed if he tells me it’s $1299.

Honest mistake - if you buy directly from RD it will be $749.

if you buy aftermarket then then anything is possible

lol, you're not going to believe this. This is good.

So I'm on Maui and they have to get the putter from Oahu. But the guy says it's $1299. I show him the titleist website that says MSRP $750 etc. So he calls back and says that Honolulu (Oahu--the place that has the putter) that their buyer is only going to sell the putter for $1299. I ask him, if I want it, will I get a receipt that shows I paid $1299 for it...he says yes. His explanation (told to him by the buyer) is that the MSRP is the lowest they can sell the putter for ($750) but it does not dictate how much they can sell it for retail. Thus, Honolulu has decided to make their retail price $1299.

I don't buy the majority of the story, but I believe that is what was told to him. He said he can still hold it for me and get it for me for $1299. I said no thanks and I was kind of disappointed Roger Dunn would do something like this.

I email Titleist (no response yet) and Roger Dunn and tell them the story. Roger Dunn emails back and says they are no longer affiliated with stores on Hawaii so they could not comment on the pricing situation.

So I guess long story short they are Roger Dunn in name only, and they are independently owned stores and can price items however they want. I still think it's lame that  they would do that with a Titleist club, but oh well.

That is true, MSRP is just the minimum. They can sell it for whatever they want.  Kinda how Globalgolf sold all their champions choice putters for $900.  they are just marking them up to the aftermarket price, since like 95% of them sold just end up for sale anyways.

dang didn’t know that about global golf. That’s kind of dumb

I guess that’s fine as they are allowed to do that but who is getting the extra money? The independent store? So they have 4 of them and they make $2000 total extra. Ok cool, but the four people (like me) that probably would’ve bought them at retail price (you know from an authorized titleist dealer) would probably make up for that $2k over the year.

That’s kind of lame but I guess it saved me $750. I probably will avoid Roger Dunn in the future. Granted I don’t buy much stuff in store anyway.

Titleist should just sell them direct if stuff like this continues. I mean, if Walmart etc started selling PS5s and xboxes for $1500 I think Microsoft and Sony would do something about it. Even though Amazon seems to be scalping those too.

Just got my hands on mine today, putter looks great.  I personally wish it was just an 11.5 (i like the little wings look) with a slant neck but I'm happy with how it turned out and i know I'll get used to it.

I still don't really understand why Scotty doesn't have a custom garage like Toulon where you can build a custom putter from scratch with a bunch of different options.  He could charge a fortune for it and people would pay it an they could all be standard designs with the same necks and all you could customize would be finish color, site line/aid/naked, shaft color, etc.  It would be cool, but the dude is printing money so who am I to say anything.

There was one. You can custom order CT via the distributors, and the program is pretty much what you described.

As you can imagine, customization takes time. There were a lot of wild and super cool sticks when the custom program was first started (I wanna say in mid 2000s). Gradually, you can customize less and less. Finally, Scotty shifted his attention to the Gallery when it was opened in 2014 (I think). And that's pretty much the end of custom program.

Got mine a few days ago and its easily the best putter I've owned. Great feel (prov1x) and easy to line up. Truly a putter the pictures didn't and don't do it justice!

Mine has been bent, grip changed, weights dropped by 10g each, and planted in the bag.

Got mine out today and loved it, head is perfect (without wings!)... looks fantastic all blacked out and the cover is quality leather.. actual "feel" is different from the pX 5.5.

Is it me or does the Triple Black look smaller? Maybe it's just the black playing tricks on my eyes.

Also, how does the toe hang compare between the X5.5 and Triple Black?

It's slightly larger if anything.. the Face seems almost identical but the fangs on the px 5.5, definitely seem a bit longer... I haven't actually measured them both, but I notice it when I put the Face's back to back. Hang should be identical.

It's a much smaller scale but it's the same thing in  Resort Pro Shops with Golf Balls,  ProV's may have a retail price of $52 but you will see them in shops for $59 or more, with the nice resort logo thrown in of course.   As said MSRP is a suggested price, dealers can sell for anything above that, and with some companies less if they choose, although PING will close an account for selling less than their MAP Minimum Advertised Price

After playing some rounds now, I definitely noticed a difference in "feel" from my px 5.5.. I've also noticed that the face carries a small amount of transfer from the ball (attached pic).. what I realized today is that the milling on the face is much deeper (noticeable to the touch) on the Triple Black x 9.5.... really loving this thing 😍

Yeah I get that. I just thought it was kind of lame for the shop to charge $1299 and then tax. That’s almost double the price. It didn’t bother me because I didn’t even want to spend $750 on it but considered it since I’ve been doing a good job of not being a ho 😂

so anything above that was an easy decision to me.

I wouldn’t even pay $60 for a box of pro V1s at kapalua…imagine if they were charging $100 for them yeesh…that’s how I felt when the guy told me the putter would be $1299.

might as well get it second hand and not pay tax

Yeah. I agree it is lame for a retailer to do that much markup.   I had asked our rep about getting one for me within like an hour of seeing the email.  Even if I had to pay full retail from another account in the area.  He tied all day.  But the few accounts that had been allotted them already had them spoken for.

Probably not, unless you get hooked up or are trading.

I played my first round with it this weekend. It sits very square and compact at address. Subtle red sight line dots are a very nice contrast to that all black. I’m glad they didn’t use black paint.

The headcover seems pretty poorly made. Good thing I don’t care that much because I am playing the club. Not ideal that I have to buy another headcover.

Does anybody know what shaft is in the putter?  It has the Scotty Cameron limited sticker, but I can’t tell the brand/type.  My guess would just be a gloss black KBS strapless. I’m not sure.
