Getting a chuckle about guys watching early AM golf or setting alarms for a late fall, post majors and Ryder Cup, joint Japan and PGA tour event sponsored by a company most of us have never heard of. You guys have it bad.  🙂

I watched as late as I could, but kept almost falling asleep on the couch.

In other news, it's fun watching Matsuyama stick it inside of 10 feet from 150 yards out and curse dejectedly at his poor result.

If Spieth were allowed to putt for him he might never lose.

They repeat coverage at times. 2nd round live coverage starts at 11:30 pm EST.

He just won the Japan Open last week and has been playing well on the Japanese Tour for the last few years.

There may have been golf on at that time but it wasn't the ZOZO. Locally they didn't start the event until 8:30 am JST which would have been 9:30 pm EST due to the 13 hour time difference.

I am sure that I will be in the minority in saying this (he seems to rub people up the wrong way) but pleased to see Matt Wallace up there playing well. He has really been in the doldrums for the past couple of years really but when he is on, he is someone that would be a huge asset to Europe in Ryder Cup’s (yes, I am still hurting).

Must be a sympathy sponsor exemption invite. He is so far gone as a professional golfer at age 45 that he doesn't even have a place standing in the OWGR. That's over 2,000+ players. At least at this point he isn't DFL of the players through 3 rounds.

Well, it's a beautiful Saturday afternoon here, the ZOZO is on the TV, and I'm smoking some ribs like I said. 

So far, the Japanese commentators seem to be under contract to remind us every 5 minutes that Xander won gold earlier this year at the Tokyo Olympics.

As for the ribs, they need about another 30~40 minutes. Half of them will be getting my take on a Kansas-style tomato sauce, and the other half have a semi-dry rub. Smoked with an oak chunk with wild cherry chips.

The wings have just gone on, and I've another lot of wings, a rump cap, and a fish to do for dinner.

Interesting to see that the 15th, a fairly short (for pros) 424-yard par 4, is playing as the second hardest hole today, and has played over par every day.

So, YES.  A no-cut event, everyone gets paid.  Probably makes up for the 'no appearance fee' program.

On the 18th now, Matsu 2 ahead of Tring, so can't see Matsu losing this one.  Poor Munoz, racking up the double bogies on the back 9.  Dropping into 5th place, or worse.

Nice eagle finish for Matsuyama, his second of the round.

 

Not a bad final round, but unfortunately Tringale faded away over the last two holes. There was a chance of a two shot swing on the 17th. Even a one shot swing would have made things very interesting.

 

Anyway, good to see a home win, so to speak.
