Srixon Gold Diamond Ball

There's info about them on the JP website: https://sports.dunlop.co.jp/golf/srixon/zstar2021/diamond/

Higher iron spin, low long game spin, firmer than XV. Pretty interesting looking, firm and spinny so looks like a V1X competitor?

So that would be more spin than XV?

Correct, as shown in the chart above since this ball has been available in Japan for a long time, the Diamond has more spin than the XV all around.

Using the chart as reference in terms of spin high to low it goes:

Approaches

1. Diamond

2. XV

3. Z Star

Driver

1. Z Star

2. Diamond

3. XV

Greenside

1. Z Star

2. Diamond

3. XV

Based on this I will try it, but think I will stick with the XV...

That driver chart in the middle is comparing distance not spin.

Right but knowing that the XV is a lower spin ball with driver than the Z Star it's easy to interpret the chart as the difference in distance being a function of spin.

MyGolf$py’s 2021 test results showed the 2021 ZStar spinning less off of the driver than the XV for all 3 swing conditions. Their 2019 test results were reversed but the difference was negligible.

Srixon uses the same “low” qualitative descriptor for driver spin in their marketing materials for the two models pointing to a negligible expected difference for most users. The difference in distance illustrated in the chart above is primarily due to ball speed.

Ultimately most will find the driver spin difference between two multilayer urethane models from the same OEM to be negligible.

I cant wait to try these out. I've never got along with Srixon balls. I try them out every time they release the newest and greatest version. The XV is way to hard and clicky for me and other is way to soft and mushy. I always thought they needed another ball in between the two.

I love that the ball manufactures are going to 2 and 4 ball lineups. What a time to be alive.

A local Dicks accidentally put these out on the shelf along with the yellow/ white Z star and Z star xv divide. I tried buying a dozen and they can’t sell them until January 21st. Needless to say they took them off the shelf and put them in the back room

Did you take a picture by chance?

Usually play Vice Pro, Pro V1, Zstar and Bridgestone Tour B XS. Played first round yesterday with the ball with not too glowing results. Seems a little harder than Zstar, much like XV, but works great around the greens. Flight and distance was a little lower than I liked, but it was also 50 degrees outside so I wasn't at my peak looseness. I need to play the box out in various conditions before I make a final judgement. Not much help, but that's all I got right now.

I went full send on these and bought a bunch for the season. The XV is a good ball that it found too clicky to my taste, while the Standard didn't' have the spin or distance I would expect from a premium offering. I'm hoping they found the golden (or diamond) ticket here.

Personally hoping better spin numbers off my mid irons as my spin numbers have dropped over the last year and I frequently need to hold greens as many courses around me long is dead.

Played another round over the weekend with the ball. Distance off driver/fairways was back to normal plus a little added bonus at times. Besides being a little firmer feeling than Zstars, I'm not seeing much difference in the 2 balls so far. Putting them on the shelf until warmer weather comes back around to get a fairer judgment on the overall performance.

Was able to play 3 rounds in AZ this weekend. They seemed a bit longer off the driver than my regular ProV1. I had a few drives in the 315-335 range. Very penetrating off the tee. The ProV1s feel better off the irons, but these are close.

On and around the greens it was a wash, which says a lot. Durability still goes to the ProV1. I was able to play the same ball for 3 rounds including one 18 hole par 3 (so lots of full wedges) and it’s still playable but it has the classic worn Srixon seem, but not as bad as previous years.
