Bridgestone 2022 - are they redoing the tour b line?

The Tour B models have been on a two year cycle (2018, 2020, etc.). If I remember correctly it's been an early-mid February release in past years so I'm assuming we'll see a new model around that same time next year.

As far as what they will change/update.... I have no idea.

Yeah, should be early 2022. Just haven't heard anything. Interested to know if they are going to make big changes the b x based on Bryson feedback...kind of like how they made the b xs, in 2020, based mostly on what tiger liked.

It's possible, but I'm thinking it's unlikely they'd change it solely because of Bryson.

There are multiple people on tour using the B X (Bryson, Kuchar, Lexi Thompson, I think Jason Day was or maybe still is?) so I can't see them making major changes to it just to cater to Bryson's needs while ignoring everyone else on their staff.

They made the B XS specifically for Tiger and it's wasn't necessarily a ball that was in the rotation before. I think the odds of them releasing a separate "Bryson specific ball" are probably higher than them overhauling the B X as a response to Bryson.

One of my playing partners played in the GA State Am 4 Ball a week or so back. He played with a gentleman that gave him some of the new Bridgestone Proto balls. He has had great success with the B-XS in the past and the ball he got was the new B-X. He said that ball was amazing. Said it was as spinny as the XS for him into the greens and around the greens but definitely longer off all clubs. He played them in the practice round but couldn't play them in the tournament because he would have to recalculate all his irons distances.

Hmmm. Basically a b - xsx...

Will be interesting to test them soon. I have a full box of the 3 dozen special they ran last year so it'll be a while before I need more balls. I 100% loved the 2020 b x.

Hopefully this was just around the greens. I tried the BXS for one round and couldn't play it due to how much spin it had off of iron shots. I was spinning back 8 and 9 irons off the front of greens.

Switched to the BX and it was the perfect combo of distance / iron spin while still maintaining decent spin around the greens.

I played the 2020 b xs for a season because I needed to maintain driver spin. I changed my driver setup and that allowed me to swap to the b x. What I noticed the most was how much less the b x moved side to side. It just flew straighter.

Tour BX is a great golf ball, but of course the new one is longer off the tee and spins more around the green. The new one always does both of those things. Played BX this whole year and my only issue is that it spins a little too much off full wedge shots and scuffs easier than a Pro V. BX is a very long and straight and seems to do well in the wind. Greenside spin is excellent and feel off the putter face is better than the compression would suggest. Still thinking about switching to the new Pro V1 though since I could use slightly less spin. I consider Pro V1 and BX ball 1A and 1B for me.

I feel like Bridgestone is in a tough spot with their Tour BX and BXS golf balls. Seems like they have to leave BXS as the "Tiger" ball to his personal specs. Soft and spinny. The BX has to appeal to everyone else. Lexi to Kuch to Bryson.

I'm intrigued by Kuch's comments on the upcoming Tour B X. A little better spin around the greens with that ball would be nice. However, I'm mostly curious to see what changes are made to the XS given Tiger's inability to test and give input for the past 9 months due to his accident. The 2020-21 Tour B XS was the perfect ball for someone who wants soft and spinny.

If the new B X is still faster with the driver, but with increased short game spin, then wouldn't it make sense for him to switch to that ball? He could probably use some free ball speed unless he's a cyborg now.

Watch some of the short game videos he's made with Bridgestone and TaylorMade over the last two years. He wants a super spinny ball so he can play the trajectory and spin he feels/sees around the greens. He developed his short game with wound balls that spun a ton, so he still wants that around the green. Tiger has always said his his job to take spin off, as needed.

Assuming he's able to make a comeback to the Tour, I can't see his requirements changing with the golf ball. He knows what he wants and what works for him. If the new Tour B X had the same spin as the XS around the greens maybe he'd switch, but the XS is a different animal. If it fits you, it fits you. I can't see the X ever being in the same category as the XS around the greens.

Funny I keep seeing that Bridgestone tour b balls scuff easy.  I found them to be some of the most durable balls I’ve played over the past season.  As spinny as the xs ball is around the greens, I thought it was really impressive off the driver in the wind.  Unless I put a bad swing in it.

I played a bxs and prov1 in the same round earlier in the year, alternating every 3 holes.  Was actually longer off the tee with the tour b and was less beat up after the round…🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m trying really hard to change balls and save a little money in the process, but the bxs is such a good ball!

If you like the b xs and think it compares well to the prov1 then you should do a compare of the b x....

I know, I really need to try and work in the x.  The single biggest reason why I have a hard time switching out of the bxs is the feel off of the putter.  It’s been the best for me with feel off the face and distance control.

The b x will definitely be firmer feeling off the putter.

However, that little tailing curve the b xs has...the b x doesn't. It just flies straighter off all clubs. I played b xs for 2 or 3 years. Switched to b x this past year and loved everything about it.

They are both fantastic balls.

I’ll give it a go soon.  I like to move the ball around, which is another reason for the bxs love.  Playing in Dallas forces you to flight it with the wind.  However, if the bx can get me a little straighter with the driver and I can adjust to the feel off the putter it might damn well be worth it.

I love the Tour B lineup and hope they only make minor tweaks with the upcoming versions.  I have played the RX and RXS for the past 2 years with great results.  I agree with the comments on the XS.  It is probably the best feeling short game ball on the market.  The durability of the Tour B line is awesome too.

I agree with what both of you are saying both are great balls and I played both this past season. The reason I switched to the bxs over the bx is my home course has small tight greens surrounded with very thick rough and bxs just spun that much better for me the bx just tender to roll out just too much
