Lexi is making a charge, but Leona is holding her own. 

 

A pair of of bogies derailed Brittany's charge. 

 

Edit : And just like that Lexi's charge falters. She chunked a wedge on the par 5 12th, coming up short of the green. She putted from off the front of the green, and raced it 15 ft past the hole. Nice par save though.

Ouch. Lexi blocked her drive on the 16th, and immediately reached for her lower back. Looked painful. The ball took a few bounces left of the cart path, and disappeared into a bush. She may have an unplayable if they find the ball. 

 

Edit: she found the ball, but will have to punch it out sideways.

Solid round by Leona. Only two bogies and three missed greens. The challengers gave it a good run, but Leona wasn't going to give this one away. Congrats. 

 

Frustrating day for Marina. Even par ain't going to cut it when players are posting 64s. 

 

Good week for Brittany, but she had the lead, and gave it away.

I don't dislike Leona just haven't ever followed her but a big congrats. It's great to see a player who stayed the course through college and built up her acumen in the pros until she won on the LPGA. I could swear a couple of people in this forum called her overrated when she didn't come on to the tour just winning left and right. Her model may be more sound than some others who have a good amateur career and think that means they're ready to join the LPGA and then have so-so results. A couple of LPGA fans I know have Irish backgrounds and love Leona simply because she's Irish, I wonder if she could build up a fanbase among Irish Americans? Glad to see a new winner on tour.

Well perhaps we will find out when the tour goes to the "greater New York" area with the ShopRite Classic as I don't think that there is anything in the Boston area.
