Tensei 1K Black?

Just notice a 1K Black on MCA.

 

Anyone have info or tested it?

Interesting, I think we all know who/what this is aimed at. They even made it a tweener weight class (65/75/85) even though the rest of the 1K line isn't, which leads me to believe they really went after making this shaft stout. Matte finish is an interesting touch as well.

Would you think similar bend profile to the 1k white?

 

the torque***value on the black 65 is marginally lower 3.5 vs the white 3.8, but I just can’t imagine what would be that different between the two.

This shaft is very intriguing, I play the 1k white and love it. I'd love to give a 65 weight a shot in my driver.

Looks like 1K white with a different finish.  Slight tweak to the torque as well.  Material wise it lacks the MR70 and/or boron.  And here I thought this was a completely different shaft.  Hard pass but it looks really cool.

Doesn’t the 1k white contain MR70 and boron?

 

If so this is a cheaper, slightly lower torque 1k white?

Not sure how MCA will price this one but it definitely should be cheaper.  The 1K white has the 1K weave, boron and xlink.  The TPO 1K has the MR70, 1K weave and xlink.  I have both and I can tell you that they feel different.

Thx. Literally just got the 1k white even though seemingly would fit better into the black. 
 

If it’s a cheaper design lacking the top end materials I’ll save myself the trouble of getting this one too lol

is this shaft suppose to be more in feel like a Ventus black or TR? I own a Ventus black and a 1K white and something in the middle would be amazing while still maintaining the low/low.

Good question.  The 1K for me was far more feel/smoother than the Ventus Black ever did.  Probably different materials plus the softer handle.

That sounds like a TR.

 I play 1K White and my only complaint is it can get hooky on poor swings, where V Black would be a push fade.   1K black is intriguing for sure.  If it’s a little more stable than white I could be perfect.

hey you sold me the 1K white last year! lol and I am the same the 1K can get hooky sometimes. I can still hook the Ventus but it's more like I know it even before contact what I did wrong but the 1K sometimes feels like a good swing but the ball went left?? if I played more often and my swing was more grooved the 1K would be firmly cemented in the bag! I'm scared to try the TR as it seems everyone is snapping theirs lol

Yeah I forgot about that!  I went and got another one.  To this date, it’s the best shaft I’ve ever played(for my swing) It’s a great feeling shaft.  Curious they would make another 1K profile and not use Boron like the other ones….
 

Fujikura needs to address that TR issue.  Until then I’ll stick with Mitsubishi shafts! Currently looking for a ZF and Orange 1K haha

Agree.  Although 350 bucks retail is a lot for an OEM shaft.

That would not be what the OEM would pay for it. Shaft companies have often made OEM program shafts available aftermarket with a sizable MSRP in an attempt to create the perception of value. A good example of this was the 2012 Diamana +Plus line which had a $300 aftermarket MSRP even though the intent was to be an OEM offering that in reality had little difference from the previous “made for” shafts. 
 

Additionally, the 1K Pro White had a $500 MSRP at launch and the lack of “Pro” in this black offering is telling.

I am aware of that.  OEM shafts aren't even worth 100 bucks if you try to sell them separate/by themselves on different selling platforms IMO.

Could a rebranded, refined AV Raw White Prototype 2.0?  Those were only 65, 75, and 85 TX but it’s possible.  Or have already been developed into a current offering?

103-105 SS average.  I generally play stiff shafts.  Though, I found both the Ventus Red/Blue 6S and 7S a little loose for my quick aggressive transition.   Whiteboard profiles work really well for my swing.  1K has been great shaft for me.  Only hangup is I have a tendency to over cook it sometimes.  But, its very manageable.

1K black sounds right up my alley.
