PGA tour events have meaning, there’s the an overriding tension of competition. And a lot at stake. Prior to the “elevated events” you had the top guys, be it Tiger or Rory or Rahm, on the exact same plane as a kid who just got his card and is struggling to keep it. 
 

You eat what you kill. You’re fighting to play the weekend. You’re fighting for owgr to get in majors. 
 

This continuity, this fierce competition, that started from when these guys were juniors right up to getting on tour, the whole ecosystem, is set up to fight to be the top dog. 
 

This aspect is completely lacking in LIV and many look at the whole thing as

 

John Rahm said it perfectly before he sold out,

 

“There’s a meaning when you win Arnold Palmer’s event at Bay Hill. There’s a meaning when you win LA, Torrey, some of these historic venues. That to me matters a lot”

 

and said of LIV

 

“It’s not my business or my character to judge anybody who thinks otherwise. And for a lot of people, I’m not gonna lie, those next three, four years are worth, basically, their retirement plan. It’s a very nice compensation until they retire and sail off into the sunset.”

 

 

So, I can’t get into liv at all because if that’s what the players think, why should I care? 
 

Now, I know there’s lots of liv fans who appreciate it for what it is. But I can’t watch a sporting event and a league that has no meaning beyond making guys rich and comfortable 

 

 

 

 

The problem is you’re compairing a 100-year-old PGAT rich in history to a start-up golf league that is in its 2nd full season. 

 

This is the issue I have with comparing gallery sizes and viewership numbers. It’s not a fair comparison compared to when both Tours began it’s journey. 

I will take HVIII quote that players are playing even harder on LIV than the PGAT because there is so much money on the table to win an it's so easy to be relagated or just dropped if you're outside the top 24. 

 

Heck Meronk got a slow play penalty in Jeddah which cost him $250,000. When is the last time the PGAT issued a slow play penalty. 

 

I'm not here to engage in a swordfight over both Tours but let's keep things in perspective. 

 

I just don't understand why those who hate LIV for whatever reason feels the need to regurgitate the same hateful comments, we get it you don't like it so just move on and watch what you enjoy instead of so much focus on something you don't like. 

 

It's like a person constantly driving by an ex's house and screaming how much you hate them. 

It's pathetic and you're not going to persuade anybody with your 1000 reason why LIV sucks.

I’m sure you’d agree  My post contained zero hate and was quite courteous to my good fired @MtlJeff and all live fans.

 

, I simply explained why I (and so many) don’t watch. Like everyone, I’ve watched a ton of different sports since I was a kid, and that’s my impression of liv. 

 

Rahm himself said the same thing.

 

Put it this way.

 

On the pga tour, Bryson was fighting with officials to give him relief from ants 🐜 🤣. And from that metal fence!
 

He was crying when he didn’t play well.

 

Now look at Bryson on LIV and all these guys. Going around in jorts and teeing off with mumble rap 🤣

 

They demanded total silence on the pga tour, they got angry, broke clubs.

 

Now they happy as pie with a party going on all around them 

 

Look at THatton!

 

He used to get mad 😡 about everything now he don’t care the blasting music all over 🤣

 

Cause he paid!

 

 

 

Again, I understand that liv has fans, all good. I can actually see how attending one of the events would be a good time.

Golf tournaments are sporting events, and the competition is the players that enter the proceedings. The audience can't worry about who's not there, the players can only play against who's there. For example: when the Chiefs beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl, was it not an exciting event despite people thinking that their team should have been there?

 

Two of my favorite players to watch play golf went to the 54League (BK & CS). I haven't watched either since their defection because I got over it and now have new favorite players to watch. Players come and go all the time on the PGAT, that's how the machine is set up. New players and something to play for every week besides money.....

 

****Even if Rory leaves for shorts and shotgun starts, the machine will carry on. It's sort of like your favorite hometown player getting traded. 🤣

First point.......I don't think that anyone hate LIV, but find them and their fans annoying with their constant whining and entitlements.

 

Remember, they sued the PGAT and their players for a multitude of reasons.

 

Second point....... Ex-girlfriends go away, they don't continue to keep calling like some of the LIV players do to get OWGR points.😂

What a weekend to be a golf/sports fan.  Today and tomorrow I will watch the Travellers(another Scotty win), watch the KPMG LPGA Championship, watch a bit of Champions Tour, watch me some Caitlin Clark beat down Angel Reese, watch the Dodgers/Shohei, and go to LIV.com checking the leaderboard to see how Bryson and AK are doing.  😂

I'm retired and my body will only allow me to play 3 rounds a week so I spend some time here.  I'm wondering how many posters are at work?  The site gets a whole lot of traffic during normal work hours.

8-under round from Rahm today, best in the field, tied with Bryson overall 4 behind Hatton. 

 

And a nice round of 3-under for AK too after his customary poor first round.

So I went to LIV Nashville on Friday, and the ground-level concession setup was horrifically bad. The central concession area was fine up to the shotgun start, but then after 2 holes or so had passed, everyone came back for refreshments to deal with the 90 degree heat. As a result, all food trucks/beverage lines were 100 to 200 people deep, barely moving. Plus the water stations all broke down. I don’t understand how a beverage stand selling only non-alcoholic drinks even builds up a line close to 200 people. For comparison, went to the Memphis/St Jude tourney last year, same intense heat conditions as this LIV event. Maybe 2 mins max to get food/beverage at the St. Jude.

Agreed.  Or at least a top 5 finish.  That would be enough points to have him finish above the relagation zone (I think.)  Those last 5-10 slots in the points are fighting to get a total of 10-12 points all year.

Saw that on facebooks.  The Premier League fan fest downtown was the same way with way less people.  Stupid long lines for coffee and food.

 

I suppose the pgat has multiple sets of course build out stuff and they "hop-scotch it" from course to course?  Probably a well entrenched volunteer base as well for the places they go year after year.

7297 par 71 this week, way longer than the courses they've been playing most weeks.

 

Datagolf gives Hatton a 62% chance of winning today. I know it's a 3-shot lead, but he has some fairly big names right behind him. And Catlin is an unknown to me, but he won twice on the Asian tour only a few months ago so it's not like he's untested either.
