Can anybody identify the LPGA pro who performed best in this Korean hacky-sack game? 

 

The lady at timestamp ~32s in the twitter video = got the most keepy-uppies

... i think it's Steph Kyriacou (via the "Aramco" and "Titleist" logos on her hat/apparel)... not 100% sure?

 

Perhaps a Kyriacou fan (eg @Rapidcat) can help confirm?

Some context on how lpga stats work for Asian events. Player gets handed a very basic stat card (fw, green hit, putts, sand save) which 99 percent hand directly hand to their caddy. most caddies fill them in through the round with two holes measuring driver distance. Some take seriously and some others just make it up at the end of the round. Not sure if the KPMG insights stat cards are used in Asia since their implementation.

I feel so conflicted and mean.

 

Jeeno's terrific, wonderful golfer on a fast track upwards but there is no way in my mind that she should be world #1 now if she finishes this event in the top 4.

 

Hasn't got a resume that equates to that with only 2 LPGA wins (both in playoffs after coming home with low R4's), no majors with a 4th as best, 13 LPGA's top 10's but many of those curtesy of low R4's after not having really been in contention. No LPGA wins leading an event therefore winning from in front so a dominating win.

 

A top 10 player but not #1 imo.

 

I guess just circumstantial due to the rotten fortune of Nelly, JYK and Danielle's illness/injuries.

 

Can think of at least 6 players I would rate above her right now as world #1's (Lydia, Nelly, JYK, Brooke, Minjee & Danielle).

 

And yes, of course, these are calculated rankings based on criteria & formulae etc etc but I don't care, time to revisit their construction imo.

 

Please don't hate me, I like Jeeno, I really do. It's not a criticism of her.

 

Now to wait for the pedants and accountants to comment with something akin to 'that's just the system yaddy yadda'.

 

I'll go now, I've soiled myself (not actually, just figuratively).

Lydia putting some more space between her and Minjee in the scoring average race; relevant for the HoF points.  Looking at all of her stats, its kind of amazing she's only won once this year.  There was a question a while ago on how far she could get "back."  The wins aren't there yet but everything else seems to be.  Need to drive it a tad better a couple more weeks or get a bit lucky and the narrative will be quite different.

Lydia's performance this year shows just how hard it is to win on any tour.  You can play Top 5/10 golf week after week after week and still not win.  Winning a tournament is more about lucky bounces and being in the zone than it is consistency.

Gotta disagree. The rankings are weighted towards recent play. She's been solid. Two wins, and 11 additional top 10s? That includes 3 top 10s in the five majors. Eight top 10s in her last 11 starts. One missed cut in 17 events. That's #1 material. 

 

Is Jin Young's recent play worthy of #1? Nelly? Minjee? Hardly.

Agree with this. She is the only top tier to be slump proof at the moment. Being 19 helps. I would rank her and Lydia as the 2 best right now.

Fair enough.

 

I want my world #1 to have a more extensive winning resume at the highest level as well as current form so to my taste the ranking calcs don't reward wins enough and retain win points enough from recent seasons. I acknowledge others will want to see something different.

 

That being said, Jeeno is putting up a terrific effort in this current event and a win here would settle my mind some - but not a 4th place.
