I have not watched the final round of the BMW tournament. I've recorded it & will watch this afternoon some time.  BUT.....I will tell you one thing, I will not be listening to any commentary.  I simply cannot stand listening to those two constantly chattering women!  I will have to work real hard at not finding out who won.  🤣

I was so interested to read that I wasn’t the only one that had a hard time listening to the coverage!  OMGosh - they NEVER stopped chattering!  😬 (There were 3, evidently all in the booth together.  It might have helped if one had been on the course and offered a different perspective.)

I very quickly FF'd thru the final round......a big congrats to Lydia Ko on a great win.  Hoping she'll own the #1 spot again soon.

I've tried watching highlight videos on YouTube, but the editor(s) needs a lesson in editing. OMG. They show shots out of order. If you're watching the leaderboard in the lower right corner, you'll see a player drop a shot. Oh, wait, they went back in time.

Lydia showing who is the boss in the final round. 65 and 4 stroke lead. Impressive. She is definitely on the move to #1.

However, even though she had a great 65, she still didn't look sharp with her irons like we are used to seeing with a few odd looking swings. Perhaps she is using a different shaft or something. When she is firing on all cylinders, watch out even more.

Lyds had to play average with her irons, to give the impression she wasn't trying to win, seeing as it's BMW  sponsored and she is very much a Hyundai girl. Don't want to P off the in-laws.

Hmmm. Might explain why she kept missing the green on the par 3 with the BMW prize for the hole in one. Lol.

It was great to see Lydia get another win and closer to her HOF induction. This tournament allowed us NZ fans prime time viewing as we got commercial free the last 4 hours of play each day (4.00pm - 8.00pm or finish of the days play). To the comment by @Kaysquareabout the commentary at least you can mute the sound and they don't cut to the commentators. When we get the GC coverage we have to see them in the booth as well which I find annoying and not needed...we are paying to see the golf.

Sad to see JYK coming back and being uncompetitive but did she WD after the second round because she thought there was no point from her position in taking a chance of aggravating her previous injury as she made no reference to injury after her first round...interesting but injury was her excuse. That then also brings the point would losing the RR#1 spot to Thitikul had she finished 4th or better made her worthy of it if JYK's injury is real? Maybe had she won but with Lydia winning it's going to make the rest of the season interesting. Lot's of titles up for grabs now over the last few tournaments and that's great for us and the LPGA 🙂.

Fair enough.

I want my world #1 to have a more extensive winning resume at the highest level as well as current form so to my taste the ranking calcs don't reward wins enough and retain win points enough from recent seasons. I acknowledge others will want to see something different.

That being said, Jeeno is putting up a terrific effort in this current event and a win here would settle my mind some - but not a 4th place.

You don't rate her massive triumph on the LET last year?

I have to say, Trish Johnson is the worst commentator ever, to be honest. To be fair, so many filler words that don't say anything. And just sooooo much chat.

I'd be interested to know who she thinks her audience is. On one putt that missed by a fair distance in Round 4 she stated "Dickie Bird would have called that one".

Do you know who Dickie Bird is? I do - he's an English cricket umpire from the 1970's!!!

I loved this tournament. The big wheel keeps on turning doesn't it? JYK looked out of it, even before the scoring went off the rails. I really hope she can get it back.

Speaking of getting back, Lydia has been absolutely awesome. She hasn't bounced back to the top of the game - it's been a long and winding road of constant dedication and improvement, over a 3-year period. Did you all hear what Ariya said to her during her champagne shower? Simply, "I'm proud of you".

Hopefully, Sung Hyun (or Syeng Heen Kim, as Trish Johnson called her), Ariya, Jin Young et al can take some inspiration from the new other, other Ko - Lydia Mark II. But we know not everyone can be at the top. Min Sol Kim looming!

You make fair comment but I wonder if the commentary team were at the course ?

if not, they may have needed to waffle on like old Peter Alliss, being out-of-touch as it were.

No.

As one of the English commentators (can't remember if it was Kate Burton or Trish Johnson) said during this event "the LPGAT is a far higher standard than the LET".

Esther Henseleit was player and rookie of the year with 3 wins in 2019 and she is struggling on the LPGAT.

The LET is a 2nd tier tour, what matters is your wins on the LPGAT.

Can anybody with good eyesight identify the player with the fan-club shown in Kate Burton's twitter photo here?
My guess = Choi Hye Jin (but not 100% sure, given the low-res photo... )

Another great element of this event was the atmosphere, largely contributed by the number and fervour of the local fans.

Vocal, yet respectful...no 'mashed potatoes'.

Yeah, but I think she doubled the "Race to Costa del Sol" points of her nearest rival., with 4 wins. Still, I also kind of agree with you. Still  it got her to 18 on the Rolex rankings, and now her rookie year on the LPGA has been exceptional. That's two great years, the period over which Rolex is counted.
