Holy He** TSR4!

All I can say as a long time TS4 user is "Where have y'all been?" 🙂

I've had it for 2 and a half years now and I honestly still can't get over how easy it is to use for the "challenging" driver in the range. Paired with an EvenFlow White 6.5 I have never hit anything straighter, and when it lands it just runs - 40 or 50 yards rollout isn't uncommon with this thing.

Only thing I have to watch is the occasional snap hook, as it doesn't help much there. For 95% of the time though it is brilliant.

The Dee Three - Titleist TS4 9.5 deg, EvenFlow White 6.5 65g, A1 Setting

Henrik - Titleist 917 F3 15 deg, Rogue Max 75x, B2 Setting

The Walking Stick - Titleist 818 H2 19 deg, Rogue Max 85x, B2 Setting

The Interloper - TaylorMade P770 3 iron, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5inch +1 deg loft

The Blades - Nike VR Pro 4 - AW, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5 inch

The Sand Iron - TaylorMade MG2 TW-12 Grind, 56 degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Flopper - TaylorMade MG2 TW-11 Grind, 60 Degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Putter - Nike Method 003 from The Oven

Anyone go from TSi3 to TSR4? After seeing the TSR4 in person it has me very intrigued. The shape is quite lovely.

I did. I was a little worried about too low of spin so I went from a 9* in the TSi3 to a 10* in the TSR4. I like to loft down to protect against lefts. TSR4 to me is just as forgiving as the TSi3 and it’s straight high bombs. The longest driver I’ve ever hit. It can drop to boarderline low spin on toe hits but still very playable. Paired it with a Ventus blue and I’m in love. I love the smaller look, feels like I’m back in a 983 or 975 from my youth.

I had the 983K as a youth too. Fuji Speeder 757 lol.

Currently gaming a Ventus Black in my 4 and as my swing is shallowing out I am contemplating trying a blue tr.

playing a blue tr 7x in my tsr3 3 wood and it’s a cheat code as an alternate tee club

i played the 3 and the 4. i personally went with the 3 in a lower spinning shaft and it had better results and sound/feel than the 4.

Also going to 10deg - try to loft up a bit for more carry.  Numbers shown were about 10deg with 9 head.

I had better numbers with the Ventus black. And I tired hard to like that 1k. But ended up forking over the extra $$ for the Ventus.

Does the face angle look a little weird to anyone else?

I really wish titleist would go back to the old DCI triangle alignment on their woods, and pointed correctly lol. I pull out my 905 or 913 and it’s such a better looking alignment aid

The 3 works best for center strikes and if your miss is slight and mostly in the same spot.  It can be tuned for that miss (or strike point).  The 3 is a little more workable than the 2 or 4.  And yes, the pros don't typically want as much spin reduction.

The CG being more forward on the 4 makes the driver swing feel more similar to my swing with other clubs. Which is great bc I’m not playing all day everyday like I used to.

I play a 10 degree lofted up and the 4 keeps the spin low so I’m not trying to hard to lean back and launch it like other drivers

I can relate to this, and partially why I want to try the 4. Whether a fitting or working with a coach, I’m always being told I need to hit up on it more to get more distance, reduce spin, increase launch angle. It’s just not natural for me.

I’ve bought into the trend and tried to optimize my launch and spin for years. Most recently with an 8* SIM but I just can’t take it to the course nearly consistent enough.

My misses are so much smaller and more predictable when I have a negative AOA and my good driving days are more frequent

Just a question or observation.  With so many guys here thinking the tsr4 is better and more forgiving than the tsr3 why do you think more PGA pros are not playing the tsr4?  Are any pros playing the 4?

Because they can hit the same spot on their driver 99.9% of the time.  In the sweet spot, the TSR3 is great, on mis-hits it was punishing for me.

Ok.  I was under the impression that this was designed to be the longest yet least forgiving model of the bunch.

I don’t quite understand this either. Does the more forgiving face have a bigger impact than the shape of the head?

Seems like folks are down on the G430LST this year. I wonder if TSR4 is taking the reins in the low spin category.

In the first couple months, I was switching between the 1K 75X, Trono 75X and RPG 472 M5+.  I really think that 1K profile matches up well with the TSR4. The Accra gives me that familiar smooth feeling while being stable.  I can see people going Ventus Black or 1K Pro White as an option, but the 1K Black is a nice blend of both and can see why MCA came out with it.

The G430LST is a great driver, tested well and I have loved their Rapture and G400 over the years, but the TSR4 won me over in all the categories I was hoping for in a new driver.

The 4 has a lower MOI, so technically it isn't more forgiving, but one of the things Titleist advertises about it is that the low spin is consistent across the face in a way that it wasn't with previous 4 models.  So for people that fight high spin and spread it around the face a bit, they can be consistently longer with the 4 than the 3 because the 3 spins up on mishits, whereas the 4 keeps the lower spin, giving more distance.

Yes this ^ - the face of the 2 and 4 are the same and less punishing in mis-hits from my testing.  My friend found the same, although he ended up with the 3D as fitter never gave him the TSR4 to hit.

I asked Titleist, why not have the face added to the TSR3 and they said they try to aim for consistent hits, and moving that rear weight to accommodate where you strike from most consistently for better MOI.  Just not the case for me.

Just curious what are some of the negatives you’ve heard on the 430LST? I haven’t been following as closely the past couple weeks but for awhile it seemed like the 430 was going to be “the driver” around the forums.

I haven’t hit the 430LST myself, but I’ve had buddies that have gamed the G410LST and G425LST get fit into the 430Max instead of the LST. Doesn’t mean the LST is bad, but they said the spin numbers between the 430Max and LST are closer than in past models, so why not take the extra forgiveness of the Max.

I just put a Ventus red in my 4, 27 holes on course, liking what I am seeing. It’s pretty cool and wet here, so will get better idea on true distance when it warms up and dries out.

It likes to go pretty straight, very ok with that.

What are you seeing with the red versus the DI the more you play?

Tried both in a fitting and the 4 won outright due to off center strikes having tighter dispersion. Also, look at address…just means something to me.

My favorite surprise is switching the weights. I get this long a** carry with great feel when it’s a pure strike. Pretty much perfect imo.
