Holy He** TSR4!

Was completing my “lunch 6” a simple loop I play with 5 clubs in a Sunday bag during my lunch. Rounded the last hole as they were sitting up a Titleist tent on the range. Walked over there and they were booked. He said we’ll go ahead and start swinging anyways. 
 

I had zero plans to hit any drivers until the G430 comes out. Currently in a 425Max with a Ventus Blue TR. 

 

ended up in a tsr4 with a Ventus black. Picked up almost 8mph of ball speed! Spin a tad over 2000. 
 

if not for a fitting I would have never hit this.

Fittings are awesome for someone who golfs 25+ times a year.  Trackman don't lie.  You can suck but suck consistently and it will help.  Years ago did a driver shaft fitting from a pile of castaways.  Dispersion tightened up and no longer have the "holy crap that is slicing right" shot.

How'd you end up in the Ping 425 ?

I just put one in the bag, bought a new head on here with 13/5 weights, incredible driver, been playing the GBB for 5 seasons, think she is finally going in the back up bag.

 

I wasn’t even fitted, and don’t normally work well with real low spin, SS 105, but heavy weight back with my shaft, been way more consistent that TSi3. I have 4 rounds with it, just fantastic, would not change a thing

Did you pick up 8mph ball speed because the TSR4 is hotter/more agreeable to your swing, or did you pick it up because you swing the Titleist faster since Ping driver's are heavy and you didn't compensate for the extra weight when you put it in your bag?

That's what I was wondering as well. Ball speed increase is always nice, but that much is either due to swing speed increase from a lighter build (most likely) or vastly improves strike location.

Ping is never going to win a ball speed contest. MOI is their game. I’d say that coupled with a better shaft fit, found the difference.

Fit for it back in July 2021. Then re-fit again into a premium shaft 2 months ago. Second was TM Sim. Odd I hit the TS series the worst at that time.

I went to a fitting and got a TSR4 with a Ventus Blue.  Would have never expected to be fit into anything other than the TSR2 but the numbers were so much better for me with the 4.  Played it on the course twice now and I'm hitting it straighter and longer and getting to places on the course I've never been before.  Incredible club.

I had all three an settled on the 4 with graphite design UB with the weight forward this driver feels awesome an has great roll out love the smaller head volume just fits my eye perfectly

yes. The 4 is more mute if that makes sense. Still isn’t bad. Hell I’m coming from a 425, which rivaled a 12 pack in a trash can rolling down hill.

The article on golfwrx with all the fittters talking about the 2023 drivers says Ping has upped the ball speed in the 430 driver. Faster face than the 425. Don’t know if that is so but one fitter said it is clear Ping set its sights on releasing a driver that is still the most forgiving and also competes in ball speed.

The 4 has me very intrigued. I was able to hit the 2 the other day and for the first time in years, was blown away with the results. I picked up clubhead speed, ball speed, but the real kicker was that the 2 really knocked down my spin significatly over my current driver. 

 

Can't wait to try the 4 just to compare.

I have a tsr4 love the classic shape I alternate between the Ventus TR Red and TR Blue.

Just went and hit the 4. Wow! I tought the 2 was great, but this was even lower spin and I really like the smaller head. 

 

Now I just want to test the ST230 line and compare...but I seriouly doubt it will be able to give me better numbers. 

 

Titelist really killed it with this line.

I’m consistently 3-6mph faster swinging the Titleist. Ping is just a heavy combo.

did you test any of the stealth plus models 1 or 2 alongside the tsr4? everybody who's hit it here says it's fast some say faster than stealth..

Felling the same way as you.  I play a Ventus Blue today and want to try red with the TSR4 to help with launch.  And then compare side by side to the TSR2. 

 

Net was the TSR4 felt VERY good, but are the numbers really what i want them to be vs the gamer or TSR2.

 

Do you see better launch with either shaft?

I just put a Ventus red in my 4, 27 holes on course, liking what I am seeing. It’s pretty cool and wet here, so will get better idea on true distance when it warms up and dries out.

 

It likes to go pretty straight, very ok with that.

My launch numbers were almost identical 16 with the TR Blue and 16.5 with the TR Red average on 10-12 shots.

Just picked up the TSR4 and it’s a game changer, switched from Rogue Max and picked up 15-20 yards with piercing ball flight and roll.

Higgo and An were driving it great today with tsr4. I was bouncing around on their streams watching tee balls and both drove it really well and had tons of speed with the 4. An flew it with Finau on 4 and Higgo had 180 bs to hidkei 171 a couple times

The TSr4 is probably the most underrated driver of the year because of the stigma surrounding it. However, I hit it side by side with other “more forgiving” drivers and see no difference. Bad swings with any driver equals bad results. But hit the TSr4 close to the middle and it’s plenty forgiving. It’s safely in my bag for the year.

I got fit into the TSR4 driver with the weight back coming from a TSi2. The 4 is a very inviting profile and all the bit as forgiving as the 2 with the weight in the back.

Same - fit to TSR4.  Had competitive trackman to my Rogue ST LS and it was all around better.  Close SS and faster ball speeds. Misses were better too.
