Nice to see JR get back in the winners circle. Too good a player to be pottering around in the wilderness these past few years. Injuries haven't helped and his back is always going to be something of an issue but his early work with Mark Blackburn seems to have bore fruit. Europe needs a Rose at or near the top of his game if we are to be competing in the Ryder Cup.

Well done Mr Rose! For a long time he was not one of my most favourite players. But his Langer like resistance is undeniable and impressive.

I think this tournament is the worst to watch all year. The final round is fine once the AM are done. I have zero interest watching celebrities or random CEO golf.

It’s unfortunate for you that they barely showed any this year… Better luck next year!

I recommend next year you go to the event. You can follow ur favorite vanity caps around the courses and take in the extraordinary scenery while you’re at it. Maybe even visit Jim’s! Haha

And it was darned beautiful at sunset on Sunday, too.  I didn't watch every minute but I did notice there were no long antics of Bill Murray hugging someone or stealing their umbrella. No long diatribes about Kelly Slater the surfer.  No Kenny G yak yak. I think they are toning down the celebrity/CEO side of things.  They must read GolfWRX.

 

Let the beauty of the course shine through and let the pros show us their considerable talent (or non-talent at times).  Those two things are the true stars.

JR is one of the nicest guys and deserves the win. I was lucky enough to meet him at the dunhill links in 2007 and he signed everything for fans at the range, even before his round and ask how people were. Complete class act.

Well done Justin - classy win. The Monterey peninsula is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - didn’t play as I don’t agree with paying over 500 dollars to play a golf course - fundamentally. But the TV footage does the place proud. California is a spectacular place - may have to go back - but Pasatiempo is top of my list to play.

Put Bayonet & Black Horse on your list.  Some great views of Monterey Bay from a little higher up.  But both first class tests of golf.

For me Harding Park is pretty “ho-hum”. Outside of the history it doesn’t appeal much to me. Most of the holes just feel kinda indistinguishable IMO.
If you want the “PB experience” for under $100, I highly recommend Pacific Grove. They don’t call it “The poor man’s Pebble” for nothing!

Yup...play Pacific Grove for the back nine, and in SF play Gleneagles (9 hole course) a couple of times instead of any round at Harding.  Harding is a completely blah course...I have played it 100+ times and would never recommend it to anyone unless they have a free round.

Thanks guys - Pacific Grove is the Links I was told of - couldn’t remember the name after a couple of beers!! Gleneagles sounds good - I was playing Harding Park when it was still a Muni and 40 bucks a pop - so whilst I agree it has lots of similar holes ( with those damned overhanging trees) it was good enough for a Saturday afternoon of golf. Thanks again for the recommendations.

Haha, nope!  My wife and I had just finished The Hay and he was up near the main area waiting to lend his time to shoot a local promo.  He was visiting with some folks and I caught his eye and asked if he minded if I took a photo of them - he said, "Come over here and she will take our picture!"  Next thing you know we're having a nice visit and he's asking all sorts of questions and turned out a friend of his who was there with him and I had a connection via the guy's family to the place my wife and I had settled when we were first married, and both knew a relative of my wife who lives and works near Pebble.  He tools all over the area in the somewhat famous golf cart he got via Ken Venturi after his passing and he was happy I noticed and was interested in it.  

 

Nobody can ever talk smack about the guy to me, lol.  Genuinely nice person and does a lot for the area, normal parent at school events and on and on.
