Tour Hayden Buckley's custom Cameron putters - 2023 Valero Texas Open

Both "beached" /sound slots  -  one is thru to the cavity and the second in front of the cavity

I've always loved sound-slots as a concept. The beached Scottys are "extra chache" IMHO.

 

But, the trend of beaching without milling continues. Still trying to figure out the design rule on this one.

 

The best I can guess is that if a putter has a sound slot, it's already going to sound soft - therefore no need for face milling.

 

But, the idiot in me wonders, what would a heavily milled and sound-slotted putter feel like?

 

Perhaps the devil himself?

Just a sight dot is by far my favorite look. These are both beauties. Sound slot reminds me of my old ‘Inspired by David Duval.’

Just the opposite with a sound slot - it tends to make the putter "feel" firmer not softer.

It’s been a loooong time, but seem to remember the IBDD having a really firm ‘ting’ feel/sound.

I have had one. The placement of the beach slot is also very instrumental in how the sound is. 

If you believe Scotty's philosophy, sound and feel are very heavily correlated.

Beach gives it a higher pitch sound. Sound is feel in putting so this will “feel” harder and no milling even adds to that.

Absolutely gorgeous putters. What I wouldn’t give to get to roll these two. I’ve been wanting to see one of the wide blades either naked or with a site dot only, and this definitely doesn’t disappoint.

 I have a Studio Stainless Newport Beach that has been in my bag since they were released and it does have a milled face. The milling is very light but you can see it. I can see the milling on Buckley's putters. They have a milling similar to my Newport Beach.The photo where the light is shining on the face of the putter towards the toe shows the very light milling. My putter face looks smooth until the light shines on it and then the milling shows.

I always thought that "beaching" increased pitch and made putters feel not as soft??

He’s a really cool and down to earth dude.  Got to know and talk to him quite a bit when I was working for a mini tour.
