I'm back with feedback on the Dart 105S, and the Dart 90 R and S, and the Dart 105 S and X are all the exact same shaft as their Dart V counterparts, just with a different paint job. I hit them the other day head to head with my Recoil 95 Prototypes

This was doing my head in. Having just paid a premium to hit those, I was going to be fairly upset if they were a better feel. I figured the difference is also something they can get their premium dealers a better margin instead of OEM stuff. But I appreciate that you pointed this out!

I'll try and see if I can get a direct comparison of the 95 F4 Prototype and the Dart 90 soon, to be more apples to apples as far as weight goes. It's become increasingly difficult to get Recoil Prototype 95 F4's, and I'm going to have to replace the shafts eventually. I probably won't ever be able to acquire a full set of the custom ones, and I actually hate the shiny Ion-Plated finish...

The previous comparison was only with my current 7I and a Recoil Dart 105S in a 7i, for reference.

Glad I went with 120s. At least I don't feel like I might have overpaid regular DART lol

The matte black though… I’m a sucker for matte black shafts.

Believe what you want to believe, but I heard it from the source. The torque numbers are all practically the same, and just because the DartV uses M40X doesn't mean regular DART doesn't. UST's website has never been the best imo.

I spoke to UST when the DART V was released.  The materials are not the same between the V and the regular DART.  Despite the similar torque numbers,  the V should launch lower and feel stiffer than the regular DART.

Sounds like we got 2 different stories from the same people. Typical misinformation battle that Golf Companies try to do, that's why I trust very little these days.

I really liked the Recoil Prototype 95 F4's for me, and I hope the DART V 90 doesn't change anything significant.

Lol here I am sounding like a tour player. "Make it the same, but better"

sits here having just ordered the last 2 Recoil Prototype 95 F4 PW shafts he could find on the internet

I spoke with them a couple of times - first when the regular DART shaft was released, asking them about availability of heavier weights.  They said at the time to wait for the V, since they would have >100 gram shafts available with the V.  When the V was released, I called and asked about the similar torque values between the V and the DART, and was told that the torque values were indeed similar but the shaft materials were not the same between the two.  In the end it didn't matter for me, as I decided to pick up a set of new Recoil 110 F4 shafts.  The Recoil 110 has been perfect for me in a new set of T100S.

I've been testing these for a little bit now and they are for sure my iron shaft of choice from here on out. I've settled on the 105 in stiff flex. The only downside is they are lower spinning. I've seen a little run out on harder greens which is a first for me. I do have them in lower spinning iron heads so considering a move to a spinny head like an i210.

Hands down better than the LA L series in my opinion just for the weight tolerance alone.  These are extremely tight spec wise. I could not be happier. I have been on a long and very expensive graphite shaft hunt and finally Im done.

Same. I have the OG Dart (can't believe I'm saying that to a shaft not a year old…) and it's excellent. The stiff is fairly equal to the MMT X soft stepped. They might be a *tiny* bit lower spin, but mine are still ending up right by their pitch marks.

Maybe if you want a overall stiffer feel…as it sounds like the dart v’s were made to address the perception that the recoil proto’s were soft in the middle, or somewhere in the progile

It's holding up well too. No scratches like PVD. Can't stand PVD for that reason.

@jgreer1421 Quick update to this post. My original post was referencing the 105 stiff Dart Vs.

I just built a 120s Dart V in a 7 iron and it swingweighted less than the 105.

May be a little higher balance point in the 120s.

But not nearly as high as the LA golf shafts right?

Taylormade offers a Dart T as a custom option.  Is this the same?  Sorry if it was discussed but I couldn’t find it

The T annotates that the shaft is taper tip. Should be the regular Dart shaft.

I hit the 105s.  Horrible for me.  It feels like a completely different shaft and not just the weight.  The 120x was easily 15 yds longer for me with 6iron with perfect launch spin.  I was fitting t150s and had not planned on hitting them.  The 120x was so good that's what I ordered.

I am not a big hitter but do prefer an x shaft as I am a high spin/launch player.  The UST 120x profile is perfect for my swing... Getting about 115 ball speed out of 6i with 4600 spin and a 21.5 launch...  That results in about a 185 carry for me on the sim so I know I will get 5-10 more on the course with my ball and some adrenaline.  That is 500 low spin and 10 yards more than axiom which I have on my Miuras.    I don't think anyone that is a low launcher/ spinner of the ball would like these over Axiom.  My second choice would be the new Accra TZI in m5.  Hard choice and similar numbers for me but the UST slightly better.

I ordered some Dart V 105 F4s for a set of TCBs I picked up for a great deal. They will be ready next week. The TCBs have DG 105s in them, I just have never been crazy about the DG profile for me.    I have played Recoil mostly over the past 5 years until I tried the KBS I now have in my Srixons.

I demoed them in a guy's shop, compared them to the standard Dart 105s, and they just felt a bit more tight, dispersion was a bit better.  Even hit the F5s at his suggestion, they didn't feel too boardy to me, but I wanted to stick with the F4s.  I played Recoil F5s before, and sensed that they work best with full swings for me, less so if I try to take some off it, the F4 seems to handle smooth and full swings for me better I believe.

I will try to come back and give some updates when I get them built.

Have not seen much buzz around here about a new graphite iron shaft that UST is releasing, Dart V. Looks like they are incorporating high tensile modulus material M40X from Toray. Will be available in 3 weight classes: 90, 105, and 120. They will be .355" taper tip and constant weight. Torque values are very low, especially the 120 gram weight class. (1.5*-1.8*). Right now I see $75 per shaft and release on 5/1.

Could be a good competitor to the Fuji Axiom shaft coming out. If you aren't interested in sanding down the parallel tips on a $125 iron shaft, I might check these out.

Just had these fit into my set of i230s. Been dealing with a surgically rebuilt wrist and lingering arthritic type pain. Beyond impressed with the fitting results. Consistency was a huge surprise, since I've never played graphite iron shafts. They were pretty close to my gamers, but getting ideal numbers with standard lofts (gamers are 2 deg strong). Tried a few including LA, MMT, Axiom, but these were the best, not even close. 120g X stiff fit like a glove. Very smooth.

But the real reason I tried these was to help with wrist pain. Miss hits I was able to identify on the face and still had good carry numbers (prob more of the iron head), but more importantly, no zapping pain like I put my hand in a wall outlet. Can't wait to take them out on the course before winter gets here.
