TP reserve putters

syders

Recommended Posts

No images of the face? TM has said before that they are "fully committed" (or whatever) to inserts - but recent rumblings of fully milled putters being introduced.

I'm assume these are them?

These look nice and will be a big hit with TM fans.

I wish they had the T or TP logo in the cavity. The R makes it look like a completely different company.

Would love that M47 with a slant neck

So confused why that wasn't included in this offering. Would be a perfect competitor with the Fastback 1.5

Any info on the face milling?

Those horizontal grooves should soften the feel and help induce our beloved "end-over-end roll" - but are they going all Rife and talking about the milling as a "technological revolution" or anything?

I know, I could look it up on the internet...

But, I trust you folks more. 😋

I feel like Taylormade could have reached out to Weston Maughan or Logan Olson to co-sign and co-design this line of putters. Would have been a lot more interesting imo... This release just feels odd and random and that "R" logo is uninspiring

Ya, something along those lines feels like it would go over better. I do look forward to when these hit the used market someday.

Here in the UK these are prices at same price as a Ping PLD, more than a Toulon, more than last years scotty (which will hold value better) but about £50 cheaper than this years Scotty, and similar to some betti’s.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy a Taylormade milled putter for the same price as the better known milled putter makers.

The reality is that most golfers have absolutely no idea who Weston Maughan or Logan Olson are. I think a Kia Ma line could have been sucessful, but I don't think they will sell a ton of these either way. They have become the Spider company in terms of putters for better or worse.

They look pretty good to me, though that B29 is begging for a site dot instead of a flange line IMO. Curious to see how they sell at that price point and how the line evolves.

That's fair, I don't think these are targeted at "most golfers" though because of the price tag. These just don't stand out to me as something I would purchase over its counterparts from the other established brands

I've always wondered by TM didn't produce more milled face putters. Like most of you I prefer a milled faced over an insert any day. I don't love the Reserve R logo. A clean milled putter with the TM logo would have sufficed.

I'm a little surprised that they weren't a little more adventurous with their head shapes - M33/37 is the only one that isn't super vanilla.  If TM wants to distinguish itself in the premium putter game, they need to actually distinguish themselves.  When Ping rolled out the PLD lines and they had their own microsite and everything for the putters, it felt like something special and a genuine Cameron competitor.  I also don't understand their dogged commitment to single bend shafts; I guess so many years of using double bends from Odyssey have made anything with a single bend not look right to me.

Ultimately the success of this line will come down to Tour use.  If they can get some into the hands of their Tour staff and maybe even get a win, these could do well.

Got to try one of the flow neck “NP 2.5” style. Look and weight isn’t bad. Feel was good but not great. Definitely softer than I thought it would be. I was also surprised the grooves seemed very shallow, although I’m not sure you need “deep grooves” for a putter.

All in all they are a pretty decent offering, but they just don’t feel like a $400 putter. I am sure some will like them but I don’t see someone passing on a premium putter in the same range for these.
