The perfect hybrid search

Is there any guide that shows each year of the Mizuno hybrids so that I can properly identify the different models? On Ebay, there seems to be two particular styles of CLK's more readily available.

I also need to do a study on the JPX's to see what they're all about, who they're more geared for, etc...

What TM hybrids do you feel have a shallow face? I like my Stealth 19* and hate shallow face woods and hybrids.

Their max versions. I don’t think I’ve seen a more shallow face on a hybrid. It performs great off the deck and is such a soft feeling hybrid. Just wish I could hit it off of the tee consistently without skying them.

The plus or adjustable ones have a taller face, but they are iron like and low spin

Try a standard Stealth.

Try to find an Adams Pro. Best hybrid I’ve ever hit and I’m still playing my 20* from 2006.

Which specific model is that Adams that you are using?

How much are you looking to spend? Or I mean, what is the limit.

Probably $75 or less.  It's just curiosity right now since I really do hit my old Cleveland halos very well.

I think it sounds great, very stable and doesn't hook. I can easily hold a green with it, just have to hit down on it. The Apex UW is also great. Maybe try a different shaft though if you need spin.

Plus one on the Mav Pro. I’ve got the 4 (22 degree) in the bag. Pulled stock shaft and replaced with Aldila Tour Blue 85 and it’s highly reliable. Feels nice, has some pop. I don’t hook it. The Rogue ST MAX Pro is a lot like it. Both are priced well now.

Others I like are the old school Adams 9013 — lasted forever on PGA Tour in Brian Gay’s bag — and the latest PXG hybrids, the Gen 6. The Adams is one any better player will love. Find one with the Diamana 82g shaft that came stock and it is quite a combo. I actually was at the range and hit mine today. Just an all time great. Could easily game it. I paid $30 for this one.

PXG makes great hybrids — lots of Gen 2 still in play — but Gen 5 and Gen 6 are both good and offer different looks. You might find a good deal on a Gen 2. The latest Cobra hybrid, the King Tec, is also one of the best and feels sweet.

Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond 10.5 w/Diamana TB 60S

I dont find the stealth hybrids to be very shallow.

Though they aren't in the bag yet. Have a 4hy to put together.

I'm currently playing ts2 hybrids. Great clubs that are very neutral.

The stealth 5hy I hit great at the range. But not so much on the course. Will have another go with them though.

Yeah I mean I'd recommend trying a Titleist 915H or 818H, or 816H if you like the gunmetal instead of black.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check those out. I'm also looking at an old Adams Idea a7 PNT and possible a Ping G400

Great timing for this thread!

I was going to buy a Cobra ltd hybrid- had anyone here used them and would they recommend?

To be honest for my part, I think Cobra got it right with the F7 hybrid and the improvements have only been cosmetic since it was introduced.

For any of you in the know.....I wonder how the older Adams hybrids compare with the more modern hybrids?  How much "better" are the newer hybrids?   For example, the Adams a7 that I"m considering versus a more modern Ping g410 or g400?  What main difference would an average player like me, shooting in the upper 80s, notice?

While I prefer my current hybrids, in terms of performance, the Adams Super LS and XTD-Ti are every bit as good in every category. Esp. distance. They were the longest hybrids I ever gamed. Could easily still be in the bag. Ironically, after trying to sell some vintage clubs for $40 each, I got frustrated with the tire kickers, and donated the whole lot.

If you want deeper face with a more muted sound, I'd look into the Titleist 816/18.  I'm finding my G430 to be one of the best hybrids I have ever owned but the Titleists are good and should be priced right at this point.

I've been on a journey to replace my 4i with a hybrid. Seeing a lot of Am and LPGA bags with that going on.

Played a lot from the Titleist TS series, Callaway Apex and 'Pro' series but never went to the Ping because I never liked Ping. After taking a look at what a lot of equipment free agents have int he bag it always led back to Ping so I said fine, why not.

Picked up a G425 and it's fantastic. Probably the best hybrid I've ever played.

The new Tec's are pretty sweet. Adjustable hosel, 3 weights that you can move around or easily add weight to. It's the first hybrid I can hit a cut with.
