What the Doc didn't realize is that Tiger quickly scribbled a footnote that the acknowledgement excluded simulator golf, hit and giggles in the Caribbean, and major championships. 

 

Always read the footnotes people.

Maybe, but one thing is certain, he has no excuses next time he tees it up.  Which, if he can carry a bag , should be soon and often.

 

I also would question the license of any doctor that told a guy, with his back history, that looping  was an approved activity.

JT has dropped down to 28th when he was 5th last year and as we know his game is iffy right now, so I would say that fits. 

 

It seems like OWGR, once you are up in rankings it makes the most sense to play less, maybe just the majors and stay healthier.  

 

More surprised that Cam (20) and Brooks(18) are still in the top 20. They only played the 4 majors,  I guess half way proves my point.  If you play the majors only, finish in top 20 or so in only those 4 events it keeps you in the top 20 OWGR. 

But probably not for long…the 40 event minimum divisor will kick in for some of those guys and they will drop faster I would bet.

theyve already dropped significantly if your thinking of the liv guys their Major points are being divided by 40 already.

Yes, everyone that’s played less than 40 events with points available uses 40.  But as of now Koepka’s total vents is 21 and Cam’s is 24.  They will drop like a rock when they both get down to a dozen or so, at most, events played and then divided by 40.

thats an issue caused by events aging out of their point total not so much the divisor itself. and in brooks case those events that age out dont account for alot of his points.

Even if all of Brook’s points were majors if he had a dozen events played at the rate he’s complied he’d drop to 50th or so.  Right now they are both still counting events played on the PGA Tour through May of last year(iirc).  In just six months they will both have only majors and any Asian tour events played to get points. Likely less than a dozen and only the majors giving them good points if they play well.  Asian tour events the ranking points are quite small.  Divide those by 40 and they’d have to play quite well in majors to even stay in the top 50.

are you sure your doing the math correctly i have brooks at 3.442439 if you drop all the pga tour events and then divide by 40 using weight which would only drop him to 23

If he played half the events…I was about to post he’d have half the points but…I guess he’d only lose about a quarter of the points going from 21 to 40?  Even so his ranking is almost entirely the Masters and PGA.

Right now the 2022 Masters is only valued at 25% of points earned so by next April this years Masters points will be at 25% and the PGA will be about 31%  So the two events he got a massive amount of points for this year will be about 30% then.  Don’t forget he’s likely not getting any points until at least April and the points he has now will erode over time.

 

So maybe more like 65th by then.  A player can be highly thought of playing just majors buts its pretty hard to be ranked really high with the 40 event divisor

 

edit.scratch that lol.  I was referring to this time next year  not April for event value.  Either way he’d need to play well in the ‘24 majors to stay as high as 50th.
