Do you have any extremely quirky equipment preferences?

I think I have a couple in particular.

 

I played the original PM grinds when they came out. Since then I have exclusively played high toe / full face wedges from PM Grind to Hi Toe OG to PM Grind 2.0 to RTX Fullface to Jaws Full Toe to Hi Toe 3 and ultimately back to the RTX Full Face as its my favorite of the bunch. Non high toe / full face wedges look alien to me now after all these years just like they do to most normal people and I couldn't play a traditional looking wedge anymore.

 

I have played Mini Driver in place of 3 wood for the majority of the time since the SLDR S Mini Driver came out. For whatever reason anytime I test a 3 Wood that shows some promise it gets kicked out the bag and a Taylormade Mini Driver returns. Feel like I can get better max distance trying to chase onto par 5s and more consistency with a mini driver plus I don't sacrifice much if I need to use it as an alternative option off the tee as I would with a 3 wood.

I refuse to pay for anything new LMAO

And I refuse to pay more than $50 for any graphite driver shaft LMAO so I dig through the used bins and find one that works in an old head and buy the club, pull the shaft if I need to and sell the head that I won’t be using if that’s how I get the shaft LMAO

I also don’t buy any new irons, it’s always 4 or 5 years older in decent shape from the used market LMAO

My putter is 11 years old LMAO

The only new ones I might buy are wedges just to get some fresh grooves

I've always changed irons as often as most people change their socks.  Sadly, a few months ago I got a set that are perfect for my swing.  Now, I'm having withdrawals from not buying clubs.

Gloves? Zero Friction.... BECAUSE THEY SELL ORANGE!!!! (And they are pretty high quality)

 

I don't like replacing the driver because if I do that then I'll have to get used to a new one all over again!

 

For this winter, I have considered buying an Orange Scottish Cap to wear with my orange shirt, and orange accented shoes and dark blue pants. I might even buy orange tees just for the sport of it. Orange socks sound nice, too.... but even I think that might be a touch too much.

I am very depressed about the fact that orange carry bags are harder to find. 😞  LOL

This may not be a quirk but I want oversize Lamkin Crosslines on my woods, irons, and wedges and an old school Pingman pistol grip on my putter.

 

I do know that this is a quirk as I prefer my irons to be made in stainless steel or nickel since I don't like seeing rust forming around the sweet spot over time that you see in forged carbon steel irons.

Every putter I buy, new or used, I won't take it on the course without changing the grip to a Pingman Pistol. I've cut off a bunch of brand new grips, leather grips, expensive SS grips, etc.... I CANNOT putt with anything except an original Pingman.

I can play really good golf with regular flex shafts throughout the bag, or with x-stiff shafts throughout the bag, but tend to struggle playing stiff shafts.

Really despise the color red. I don’t have a logical reason as to why and have disliked the color as far back as I can remember. I will not use a club if the red on it cannot be painted over or covered with tape. Will not wear red either. Not sure if this falls under quirky or completely insane but here we are..😔

I am evidently insanely sensitive to swingweight.  Like fractions between D4 and D5 for woods and hybrids.  I am not thrilled by this at all, but it's at least a fairly easy fix.  Albeit really weird.

I think I have two that qualify. First, I do not like to play shafts where I can feel a pronounced load or kick. Dives me crazy. I don't play with gloves. While that ins't unusual, I don't play with a glove because I typically rip them apart when angry.

Mine's pretty minor in that I play sand wedge to 7 iron in 1/4" increments.  Sand wedge is 35.75", gap wedge 36", pitching wedge 36.25" and so on up to the 7 iron which is 37".  After that, a 6 iron, 5 iron, 4 iron are 1/2" increments.

I am insanely sensitive to weight. Heavy clubs I’m a plus handicap lightweight I’m a 15-20 who struggles to break 90. It’s insane when clubs get light it’s hosel time for some reason that leaves everyone scratching their heads. 
with that all said I’m putting lights out putting the light weights in my pxg Brandon putter. Struggled with heaviest ones all season so that’s a nice little quirk.
