odds were on Rahm joining LIV the moment he pulled out of TGL. Clearly, he didn't want to endorse something and then drop out a month later. Several hundred million gauranteed, more time with family, still gets to play in the majors, decent chance of resolution by next Ryder Cup ... no brainer

Not saying any of that is true, but if Jon makes the switch, it will be very interesting from a Club OEM sponsorship standpoint.  Jon's last deal with Callaway Topgolf included equity stake in the company.  So it may not be as easy as simply pushing the players on LIV off to the edges of the "players we sponsor pages" like TM has done with DJ.  Titleist kept Cam in some of the TV commercials, and Brooks was still featured in Srixon stuff too.  

 

Callaway was still supporting Phil and Henrik behind the scenes, they were still given lockers in the tour truck at majors etc.  But you could tell they wanted that hidden, and hoped people believed they cut ties with those players.

Maybe things have cooled enough where Callaway is fine with it now. Or LIV is pursuing Rahm with $600 mil to pressure the PGA Tour, but Rahm isn’t really interested.

While I usually think this is a terrible take, in this case, I feel as though players are being paid beyond their market value to stifle competition. No one believes that from a pure market value that Jon rahm will bring anywhere near that much cash influx into liv golf.

in team sports players usually dont see the end of their contract which inflates the total sometimes by up 120mill. if rahm is getting a 6 year deal for 600 he would only be expecting to be getting 400 before starting to negotiate an extension and if this was football chances are he wouldnt be playing well enough in year 5 - 6 to be worth keeping on the team.

Nothing would surprise me but it sounds like the same player signing propaganda we heard before the start of last season.  Consider the source.  I wouldn't exactly take the ball and run with everything 'Flushing It' reports.  Bunkered claims that their "well placed source" says that any claims of an immanent signing are "wide of the mark" but that "he's closer to joining than ever before".  What does that really mean?  Closer like he's negotiating terms or closer like he actually took a phone call?

That's the kind of thing that can happen when you rush a project or fall behind and rush to catch up to hit a deadline.  Even if that dome didn't deflate, that site didn't look like it would be ready to go live by their initial Jan 9 start date.

Yeah Flushing It is not a journalist, just some anonymous account that picked up followers for shilling for LIV a few years ago.

I called the move to LIV early this year. He’s always been neutral and with the hypocrisy of the tour it’s fair game. Makes the merger even more likely imo.

Since Rory has not moved yet and is saying the move is for educational reasons for his daughter when she reaches school age, why would we be curious ? 

 

Apparently he is maintaining a home in Florida as well for playing in the States and perhaps he doesn't want to spend his summers in the intense heat/humidity that is Florida.

 

Easy decision I'm sure when he and his wife considered the educational ops in London versus south Florida.
