Phil doesn’t want a lawsuit for violating the non-poaching agreement lol

But he actually wouldn't be violating anything. Per an October 2023 article from GolfChannel.

The framework agreement allowed the Tour to begin negotiations with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to create a new, for-profit entity that would somehow include the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and the European circuit. The original agreement called for both sides to stop recruiting the other tour’s players but that provision was dropped in July after the Department of Justice cautioned it could be considered an antitrust violation.

Why do you think Rory just moved to London? He`s had it with the hypocrits at the PGA tour. Rory has been sponsored for a long time by middle east company, so i would say it s a safe bet to predict him to Liv/European tour in the future.

Middle East country?  LOL thats like saying a bank in England sponsored him so he's moving to Germany now to play on the European Tour.

This makes me sad if it happens (Rahm) 😞 as a golf fan I just want to see the best players competing against eachother at historical venues. I watch LIV when its on and it just isn't the same. While it probably gives a better experience in person, on TV it just doesn't hit the spot.

I try to convince myself to be open minded while watching LIV, to focus on the positives such as no adverts, everyone on course at the same time etc but you still only get to see a handful of players during the broadcast. I really struggle to pull for a team as well, I just can't get in to it.

It would be tough having another top player not going down the stretch on Sunday at some of the big time events on the PGA Tour - regardless of how many rising stars we have we still need some of the familiar faces to make it interesting.

No hate please, i'm just a huge golf fan and love watching golf - no matter what the format. I just wish they were all playing against eachother week in week out at events that matter 😞

NB. Money is killing golf

Yeah Flushing It is not a journalist, just some anonymous account that picked up followers for shilling for LIV a few years ago.

Absolutely agree, definitely some kind of paid account.
To demonstrate, here is a post they made a few weeks back about the so called "World Golf Awards".
What they fail to mention is that the vote took place before the Ryder Cup even started!

Also hilarious to note is that this award ceremony also included the following:

World's best golf innovation award: LIV golf
Golf business of the year: Performance 54 (LIV's PR company)

Golf course designer of the year: Greg Norman
Yeah right.....

Does Rahm leaving really change the game of golf? Loving watching him but he's in all the majors so watching the best play in the biggest tournaments is all I really want. 600 Million is generational wealth so why not take it and run.

If it's true,  600m, yes,  I can see the argument.  I'm doubtful that he gets that much.   And the contract length and his future prospects are factors.  If it's for 3 or even 5y? Sure, play the fool for al Rummy. Why not? He'll be miserable playing these dumbass "tournaments " but for that coin? Why not?  He'll probably have some path back to actual golf after playing fake golf for a bit.

The other concern I have with Rahm is longevity.  That swing and that physique? Long term? He might not have a long high level golf shelf life compared to some.

Someone tell Jack that a stocky physique is bad for longevity.🤣

ROI

I’ve been thinking a while about golf and return on investment.  Sure the Saudi fund is said to be bottomless, but I’m guessing MBS eventually expects something in return for the several hundred millions he’s spent so far for what?  Some poorly watched no-cut 54 hole tournaments with limited TV and lame team games. Mostly w some has-beens with a few notable exceptions. Maybe the long game with PGA merger will play out but we’re all still waiting that outcome.

Then there’s the PGA. They’ve added big bucks to designated tourneys, and limited commitment requirements to those overworked golfers. And this year are putting out $100 million for PIP money for what seems to me the most social media presence?  Give me a break. This all has to come from sponsors who are not dumb. Especially if they see more stars like Rahm leave for guaranteed Saudi money.

Professional golf seems to be a game of cards right now.

several hundred millions

They have spent way more than several hundred millions.  We are talking upwards of 2 billion dollars.  LIV has horrible TV ratings and YouTube engagement was poor as well.  Live seemed to be pretty good in Adelaide but other events were spotty at best.  The team names are laughable and the team trade deals details are non existent.  How many years before they see a ROI?  No sure JR will make it or break it for LIV

The ROI for them is global standing not financial. They want to be viewed in a more positive light and see spending this money on Golf/Soccer/F1 as a means of achieving this

Jon opts out of a TW & Rory business quagmire, or in replacing Rory as the pointy end of Jay's spear, and instead chooses to create generational wealth for his family, playing quasi-tour events in shorts, with music playing, and an extra day off each week, waiting for all the LIV/PGAT $h**$h## to play out and pay whatever "defector re-entry fee" is decided (with his pocket change), then make his way back to world #1 on the PGAT... dude's smart.

The last world cup is a great example. Reports have Qatar spending 220 billion to host, only to receive less than 2 billion of the 7.5 billion of revenue.

Apparently, Jay M. agrees with you, that's why he's trying his best to bring the Saudis under the PGAT umbrella with the Tour controlling the board.

LOL!....But he has to make it look like it's the player's Idea with a members vote. He's playing chess.🙂

Seriously, the numbers being thrown around here now… grotesque? $600 million dollars for a few years of providing entertainment? If true, Jon Rahm’s children’s children’s children’s children’s children are set for life.

I mean… God. What are we doing here?
