Iomic iXx Cord 2.3 - Just released

Positive, I’ve played them for months. I like a larger grip on my wedges but still had to build up the lower hand. My point is I don’t want a larger grip on the rest of my clubs, I want the 2.3 w reduced taper, the 3.5 is not this grip, it is much closer to midsize than standard.

My MCC's also wear on the thumb.   But, I know I'm applying too much pressure from time to time before impact.

This is true. I have some 3.5 and they feel closer to midsize.

Yeah, had some white 2.3's put on.  The thumb wear so quick was pretty crazy.

It's very durable. Warm water and soap and your grips are as good as new. It's a grip that suits the SE Asia weather well, making it popular for that area. 

 

It's not like Tour Velvet where it's soft. It's firm with a bit of a tacky feel. I've gone back and forth between 2.3 Iomics and GP Align Cord and finally stuck with 2.3 and haven't looked back... buuuuuuuttttt I might have to try these now lol

He says more like plus 2, which don't mean much.  And since left hand is thicker, I bet taper doesn't change much. 

If iomic doesn't call these reduced taper, they're not.

Big Iomic fan, I purchased a few of these as the cord option was too intriguing to pass up. 

 

The cord part is similar to what you’d expect from a TV Cord or UTX. The non-cord part is more grippy/rough than you’d expect at first, with a glove on there is definitely a lot of tack. These are also closer in firmness to the XEvolutions, definitely firmer than the Sticky’s. I think Iomic has stated it’s their firmest grip. 

 

One interesting note, on the inside of the grip there is “LAMKIN” stamped right by the opening. I also ordered mine from IOMICUSA.com.

Interesting about the Lamkin stamping. They have worked together before. The iLine was basically a rebranded Sticky. 

 

I love the putter grips and am a TV cord user. I'll give these a try.

why do you think iomic doesn't get much play on tour? Think I've only seen DJ used them throughout his set for a brief while way back in the day/2010. Fleetwood only uses them in his irons and not driver/woods. Matusyama uses a type of Iomic but that is about it on tour I know of.

Kuchar has used them for a while. Lanto Griffin and Anirban Lahiri also use them.

 

My guess is convenience and familiarity, if you can get refreshed grips anytime you want from the truck, and durability doesn’t matter, the GP lineup does the job. Another thought is the Iomic grips can be slightly shorter (depending on the model) so that might be disorienting when they’re used to choking up a certain amount.

They US side might not have the funds for a huge presence on the PGA Tour. Most OEMs stock them, so their players have access to them.

They get a ton of play on the LPGA and the Asian PGA tours, lot of market share there. Golf Pride rules the US grip market. Nonetheless, there are some PGA Tour players using Iomic (some were mentioned above!)

 

Also, I’ve tried their new corded grip. It’s definitely different feeling than any other Iomic, very much a corded grip. The cord is rough and aggressive texture. Yet not overly rough feeling. Thei new IXx 2.3 is also worth a look; it’s multi-compound style, but without actual cord material on the top hand.

I have installed them on four clubs (driver, 3-wood, SW and LW) but I haven't had a chance to play since installation. I'm playing this weekend and I'll report back.

 

Initial impression after installation was...I wish I would've spent the same money on GP BCT. The Iomic's feel extra rough and the rubber isn't as supple as the GP BCT. I may have a different opinion after playing a few rounds.

They were thinner than I was expecting, I usually put 3 wraps under my X Evolutions and did the same here but it didn’t quite match. The corded part feels like a UTX or Tour Velvet cord grip, the non-cord part is a very rough/aggressive pattern, there isn’t much give. Iomic notes they are their firmest grip and that seems right.

Changed from Z cord (favvvs) to this and for me who plays without glove they are easier on the hands but feels just like Z cord.
