Callaway Epic Speed or Epic Speed Triple Diamond Driver - Still using it?

Are you still using your Epic Speed or your Epic Speed Triple Diamond driver?

Thinking about going back to this driver after experimenting with the newer models.  I remember it as being long, forgiving, nice sound and fairly traditional pear shaped.

Absolutely still using mine, even have a backup head with identical specs ready to go in case of damage.

Im still using a standard Mavrik head, is the Speed a big upgrade? I had a Speed head before, but I didn't really give it a fair shot due to being the wrong loft/shaft I'd typically use.

If coming from the Maverick head and not wanting to jump all the way to Paradym I would recommend going to the Rogue ST line. The forgiveness across the face will be better going to Rogue ST vs Epic Speed with the technology advancements. The Epic Speed will resemble the Maverick more visually/sound wise, but the Rogue ST is solid overall. One of the guys I play with weekly played Maverick/Epic Speed and now has the Rogue ST. I can vouch the Rogue ST is more forgiving and overall he is longer/straighter after playing with him this past year. He will play this head until it breaks based on his feedback.

I played the Epic Speed, Max LS and Epic Speed 3W.  I still play the Epic Max LS and 3W as a back up’s. These are all great heads, but my Paradym and Paradym 3W are just better overall for me.

Good luck!!

Our group is an "Epic" bunch.  Two Epic Max.  One Epic Flash.  One Epic Speed.  I have the Speed.  This is my second one after ditching my first...which was a mistake.  This one is on it's 3rd season.  There are days, we can have a love/hate relationship.  But, that's not her fault.  No thoughts of getting rid of her this year.

I use Epic Speed. Bought on CPO last winter. I’m Very happy with the club.  I played high school golf with Callaway GBB and this reminds me of that club aesthetically (obviously bigger footprint, carbon crown etc now). I find position at an address and look important .  It also has a nice sound and it’s forgiving. Honestly compared to new offerings I just haven’t been swayed. No significant leap in ball speed and just can’t justify the $$$
Use a Fuji Speeder evo iv 6x and it’s a great combo.

Not the Speed, but I have been gaming the Epic Max LS on and off for a season. I originally got one a few years ago and liked it, then got the itch to try other stuff. The other stuff didn't have the awesome mix of low spin and forgiveness that the Epic Max LS has so I got another one last spring. I swear the Epic max LS is right there with the Ping G400 LST (which is one of my fav drivers of all time) for distance, low spin, and forgiveness. I'm trying a TSr2 right now to see if it can knock the LS out of the bag.

I am still gaming the Epic Speed Triple Diamond (9 degree).  Ventus Blue, usually have it cranked up to 10 degrees.  I have a 10 gram weight in front, 8 gram in back.  45”.  I do not change drivers frequently.

I’m still using an Epic Speed TD 9*.

Late last summer I compared it to a Paradym TD 9*, swapping my shaft between the two of them with the weights at back/front set up the same as well.

The results were near identical.

So now I at least know that if mine breaks what will replace it.

Any noticeable draw bias with the standard speed? A few reviews I’ve read mentioned this.

I remember that with the speed when I tested. My swing also was not great so I fit myself better into the max ls

I  was watching the champions tour final round today and noted both Steve Alker and Steve Stricker, two of that tour’s best,  still using the Speed and Speed TD respectively.

Quite an endorsement!!

Saw that. Have noticed this driver for a while. Kept seeing the Speed in the bags of Champions Tour players and had a chance to get a great deal on a 9 degree head from a fellow wrxer. Man, what a driver! I can’t believe how well I have hit it from the first swing. The pear shape is not huge, it looks really nice. But the head is fast and forgiving. It feels like it swings fast. Paired it with a Diamana TB shaft and it is giving me very consistent results.

Interested in this also. Not the LS version though.

If money isn't an issue, I would recommend biting the bullet and upgrading to the AI Smoke TD/MAX.  I've tested the Epic Speed TD/LS and the AI Smoke TD/MAX are miles more forgiving especially off the toe and heel, retain higher ball speeds and spin is more consistent on mishits in general.

Interesting. It’s funny because I got the max ls since it was way more forgiving than my EF SZ. So even the Ai td is more forgiving than the max ls? I thought drivers were only worth changing out every 5 years so I was planning on waiting two more cycles

I would've said no last year, but the AI Smoke TD is pretty damn forgiving for a TD head.  Where's your miss?  Mine's out towards the toe and AI Smoke made my eyes light up when I saw that spin didn't drop as much as I normally see.  It's good off the heel too.  I like seeing high ball speeds across the face as much as the next guy, but always struggled with spin in general and the AI Smoke is really consistent in that department.  FYI, I was planning to keep my OG Paradym.  Whoops......lol.
