Premium Alignment Sticks

We all blow money on things that can be done or had for cheaper. You work for your money, buy what makes you happy my friend 🍻

This is the reality right?  Folks don't blink when they drop over $120 on a Greyson polo or $400 on a Golf Bag.  I would do neither, but I'm sure not going to judge.  This is the Style and Accessories forum.  I think the vitriol I've received here pertains to using "Premium" in my topic title.  Seems people assume I want to set $100 bills alight.

Regarding alignment sticks.  I think the hickory ones look awesome, but I'm concerned about warping.

I’ve had Bubba Whips and while they’ve held up okay, not sure I’d buy them again. If you ask me, a couple of raw uncut Ventus Black or Auto Flex shafts would be the most premium alignment sticks I could think of. Might be able to find some broken ones at the tip for cheap but still give off that premium vibe.

Why wouldn't you purchase them again?  Did they warp?

Just ignore all the grumpy old dudes in here stuck in their ways, just enjoy what you want to enjoy. Still go a few suggestions to look at and hopefully can find something you like.

I know a guy that bought 48" hardwood dowel rods and custom painted them.

alternately, a couple of old graphite driver shafts might be OK. some have nice graphics.

Do you have Decathlon sports stores in US?

Here, they have a pair of yellow folding sticks for about $7.... and as a bonus no need to buy stick covers, just fold and put in a golf bag side pocket

Those look like they hold up nicely. Had some of that same design from Callaway and they fell apart in a few months.

Further proof you can slap the word 'golf' on anything to justify the 400% markup. It's not a driveway marker, it's a 'golf training alignment aid with carbon fiber technology'

High speed swing camera with lens for golf swing capture —> $1500/piece

I'm sure someone here can turn you on to Tour Issue sticks made of 100% Unobtainium.

A little. Not to the point where they are unusable. They’re straighter than Rock Hudson, but definitely not as straight as they were when I first got them.

The other issues I’ve had is that the paint has chipped fairly easy, the rounded metal cap ends can be difficult to push in the ground, and the lacquer is wearing pretty good from pushing them into sandy soil. I don’t think added lacquer is the answer, we all saw what happen to that wooden alter in Meet the Parents. I am also worried about breaking them when I use them for start line drills so I don’t even risk that.

If you just keep the sticks in the bag and don’t use them for drills or alignment purposes, they’re perfect.

Funny timing of this thread. I just left my 10 year old alignment stick at the range this week and nobody turned it in, so I’m in the market. Any advice on where I can find a plain all black one that is 44” and one piece?

Not sure about the length but I have KBS all black ones

I have also spray painted old orange Home Depot sticks-worked great

Nobody.  It was a statement.  You're welcome to whatever makes your boat float... LOL

I just thought the alignment stick topic was comical.  It's the cheapest item in my bag.  Fiberglass is fiberglass $8 or $35.  My cheapo ones look fine next to my new $4000 clubs & three custom head covers, in a swanky carry bag that I paid too much for.  Just sayin... LOL

Is there any point to jumping into a thread like this with a "hot take" that these are comical?  Especially when you admit to overspending on other personalization?

It's individualization, something people find a way to do with pretty much any piece of golf equipment they own.  It's all good, to each his own.  Live and let live.  Entirely too much hate in topics like this.

On a side note, some might say a $4000 set of clubs with custom headcovers and a swanky carry bag with a 5 index is a waste of money and COMICAL as well.  I wouldn't say such a thing, but SOME might...

I can't believe I just read 27 posts about spending a lot of money on sticks.

I'm guessing we all have stuff we blow money on that would make the rest of us roll our eyes.   Alignment sticks (or covers for em), ferrules, whatever.   And if the OP was alone, a lot of those other companies wouldn't exist.

Yes, it's a comical topic.

And, yep, some might think... do I care...NOT in the least?  I am not a fragile kind of guy, thus don't take myself so serious, as to have a hot rod up...over stupid topics.

I found white driveway markers. Had them since 2012. I always say I'm going to get titleist ones but it always gets ignored. Lol I have a black and white titleist cover so that suffices the urge to upgrade the sticks.

Apologies to the group for the brief thread jack, but having never used them as intended (marking paths in snow), wouldn't that be the worst possible color?

I assume they are built by a golf company because white driveway markers would be completely useless.

White is a useful color as an alignment aid, especially if you're colorblind.

I own orange driveway markers for the heavy snow days, and yellow sticks for my golf bag because it was my mother's favorite color.  Again, to each his own...

They were purpose built driveway markers at lowes.

The SS ones are probably custom make, driveway stakes are meant to be seen so white is completely useless for intended use.

Basically the same thing but go into the garden center and look for plant/tree/garden stakes. They'll usually be dark green but should be able to find a grey stake.

I have Bubba Whips. They are nice. Nicer than Scotch and Skins. Custom colors. Look classy. Waste of $? Maybe, but I would buy them again.
