Anyone else impressed with the S159 Ping Wedge ?

I haven't hit them, yet. As with any wedge - I'm hitting them off grass/ outside before I make any type of opinion. Turf interaction is always my main priority- chips, pitches, half swings etc

I have mine but need to get them on course still.  So far in the hitting bay they impress.  I love my RTX6 wedges too though except for the 58 LOW... I need a little more bounce than that and in my s159 I have the 58/8 B grind and it feels REALLY good.  Just need to get them outside.  Feel is really nice too.

It was time for new wedges(coming from SM8’s).  Bought 3 today, felt good, looked good, played good.  Will touch grass in maybe a week.

Were skinning some Bridgestone RXS’s.

Which grinds and shafts did you go with?

Wondering if they have comparable forgiveness to the Glide 4.0. Really hoping they are good full swing clubs.

I played Glide 3.0 a couple of seasons back. I’m curious how these compare from a size perspective. Would be interested if they’re a bit smaller.

I'm sure these wedges are awesome, but I like the non-teardrop shape of the older Glides.  The originals and 2.0.  Yeah, I'm hard to please.  🤪

I just traded my 2.0 Stealths in favor of the S159 and the 2.0 look much more rounded to my eye.  I like the slightly sharper look of the new ones.  Need to get them on course for some full swings and sand shots but chipping around the yard, I am very pleased so far.  So glad Ping finally did an 8 bounce.

Hit a 54 S grind in the sim yesterday and it was great. Have played Glide 2.0s and 4.0s, liking the look of these as much as the 2.0s. (4.0 was good, but I grew to not love the rounded leading edge.)

Have a formal fitting on the books for next Monday, can't imagine I'll walk out with anything other than the S159 or SM10.

Anyone have experience with the S grind in 58 degree? That's the only question mark I have. Have played 8 degree C grinds in LW (dig too much) and a D grind the last two years (good, but tight/downhill lies are too terrifying). Feel like the S grind and 10 degrees of bounce is the Goldilocks zone. (The RTX full face 58.9 on the sale rack caught my eye the other day too though...)

I use my current 56.12 S grind from bunkers, it's been good.

Are you all getting full wedge recs from the online fitting tool, or just lob wedges? I get gapping for the other wedges, but only grind recs for the LW.

I was already in the Ping system with my specs from when I did their web fit for all clubs. I was also fit for my Ping G410 irons. I don't know if that played into the wedge fitting. I used their wedge fit and answered the wedge questions. It recommended 50 S , 54 S and 58 E grinds for me. I play the glide 3.0 54 E and 58 E. I like my E grinds for everything so I went with 54 E and 58 E. I have had no problems with full shots with the E grind 3.0's and I play both lofts from the sand so I am happy with the E grind.

I ordered the 54 E an 58 E in midnight. The are out for delivery today.

Do you think the S grind is suitable for bunker shots? I know the E grind is specifically for bunkers but I like a little versatility with my wedges.

You're right. The online wedge fitting guide is pretty comprehensive.

Yes the S grind is a very versatile grind that will work well from basically almost any condition

Man I haven’t hit these yet but they killed it on looks vs their older wedges nice clean straight lines. Not to mention the H grind is calling my name on a 54 & 58. Never played ping wedges except for my Eye2’s in HS & the original S59’s which was one of the worst sets of irons for my game ever!lol!

I'm waiting till the SM10’s come out so I can put them head to head in a fitting and see what comes out on top.

Whatever it is I’m switching wedge shafts from the KBS 610 125+ to X100 TI’s only thing I’ve tried so far that delivers close to 30* LA and retains spin.

Well I was excited with Ping's new midnight finish. I couldn't wait to order them. I received my wedges a few minutes ago and they are built to the specs I ordered but they are in the chrome finish.  They look nice and something tells me chrome is the better sensible choice anyway. I am on the fence at the moment to keep them or have them ordered again. I ordered them from Dicks and funny my order is only showing my order number and that I ordered two wedges. My build no longer shows up. Luckily I took screen shots of my build.

I second guessed my choice from the start so maybe someone was looking out for me. LOL...My ocd is kicking in though that my order is wrong.

When did you order them? I ordered a set on the 17th through PGA Superstore, and they still haven't shipped. I did get the 50 and 60 each bent 1 degree strong, so maybe that's the hold up?

I received my custom ordered 52-S.  My initial impressions are very positive.  It reminds me a lot of the Glide 2.0 Stealth that I previously played.
