I did a total WRX thing.   Was out playing yesterday and stopped at the turn to get a Gatorade.  My Head Pro tells me there are some toys in my office.  I was only expecting one thing. Ran to the office and sure enough there was the PING box.    Ripped it open and raced back out to the cart.  Ny buddy died laughing when he saw me carrying them out.

They are B-U-T-Ful!

Absolutely love it.

Had a tight lie 15 yard chip shot lip out.   Then had about a 20 foot bunker shot from a wet hard packed sand snd hit it to about 2 feet stopped on s dime.

i think its going to be such s fun club to play around with.   Seems very versatile.

I have the 54 e and 58 e grind. Coming from the Glide 3.0 eye2's I know the E grind works for me.

I like the looks of these wedges. I think they have improved in that area compared to my 3.0's. They appear smaller and they look much better at setup. There is something about the leading edge that suits my eyes much better. I was surprised that the feel was much better too.

I put my new S159's to the test the last two days. Day one the course I played was wet. Over night rain and day two the course I played was soupy. We went out on day 2 right after the rain stopped. I can't say how they play in dry conditions but they played fantastic in the wet conditions I faced. Maybe there is something to the hydropearl  finish.

My first time using the 54 e  I had 77 yds to the pin. I hit a lower punch shot at the pin. The ball took a bounce and stopped 6 inches from the pin. Yea man!  My first time using the 58 e I short sided myself. The shot was over a bunker to an elevated green where the pin was tucked on the corner. I opened up the face on the 58 and stuck it 12 inches by the pin. I love the honeymoon period.

I use the 54 more for full swings during my rounds. I had no problem using it on full swings. I didn't have any problem using either for full swings with the eye2 grind. Considering how wet the ground was I thought I might have some problems with the turf interaction but I didn't either day.  I am not a deep divot player. My first two rounds of using them I had plenty of "wow" shots in both of my rounds and over all I upped my short game playing them.

I like my Glide 3.0 eye2's. They helped my short game especially my sand play. I didn't get the chance to play the S159's out of the sand but I expect them to perform well too. Looks, feel, consistency and performance. The S159 is a nice upgrade for me. I think they are worth checking out if you are looking into new wedges. I may add a 50 in a different grind down the road.

My 54 s midnight arrived yesterday. Finish looks really good. Currently have rtx6 54 full and the sole and grind looks very similar with the Ping being slightly narrower. I’ve only had a chance to hit a few chips at this point but hoping to give it a little test tomorrow if the rain will stay away.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on each wedge as I have been eyeballing the RTX6 as well.  I have the Pings ordered, but I have been thinking about getting the RTX6 to compare myself.

Not a lot to compare to after today. Our course is so wet right now. but the 54s was able to cut thru the slop pretty well.

The RTX6 are really good. Have a really dense feel that is really soft for a cast wedge. The RTX6 54 is going to be tough to beat out for me. I also have a 60 mid with a heel grind and I love it for partial shots and anything straight forward around the greens but I sometime struggle with the really delicate ones off tight lies.

Totally subjective, but I love the feel of these. Most wedges feel pretty good when you thump them the right way, but these are tuned in a way that is really satisfying for me. I will say, the S grind sole on Ping wedges has historically been a really good fit for me so that could be a big part of it.

I have the 50 and 54 black with s300.

I’m loving the B & W grinds.

Those who have used them, do you feel like a heel grind would help, or is opening not a problem?

Mine showed up today!! I was able to find a 50S/54H/58H thru DSG. Stock shafts so I’ll have to install some new shafts but like any WRX’er I’m not very patient 😂😂😂 Some of the best looking wedges I’ve seen in a while.

Placed and order for DG X100 TI’s tonight so hopefully by next weekend I’ll have them outside!

curious, why didn't they work out and what are you replacing them with?

I went back to my "set wedge," a 53* Titleist T300.  I use my 53 wedge for most shots inside 110 yards and the Titleist's wider sole give me more margin for error.  It might have been a different story if I tried the Wide sole.

I am familiar with it.  I had (still have) the Glide 2.0 Stealth in 54 wide sole.  If I see a used S159 W sole I may pick it up.

I got my 60 b grind this week and I am really impressed so far. Front edge sits nice and low to the ground, I feel like I can open it up a little and be ok.

Finally got to put my 50 and 58T through the paces today. 54H on back order. Red dot dynamic gold 120. These are so solid. Very impressed how easy it is to keep the ball down. The feel is just a great flush feeling with precise feedback. The 58T is a great grind. With the face square you can get the lead edge in the ground bud it doesn’t want to dig. Very good forward bounce let’s you control how much or little your getting into the turf. With the face open you can be as aggressive as you want. I never once felt it try to dig but never got that low groove feeling either. Nice thump and the ball just pops off the club with good spin. Very impressed so far

Can anyone comment on the “feel” differences between the Glide 4.0’s and S159’s?

Firmer/softer etc…

Best way I can describe it is previous ping wedges all felt more like a cavity back iron than a traditional wedge to me. The S159 feels more like a traditional wedge. To me it feels firmer/ clickier but I like it.

It was time for new wedges(coming from SM8’s).  Bought 3 today, felt good, looked good, played good.  Will touch grass in maybe a week.

Were skinning some Bridgestone RXS’s.

So after a month and 5 rounds, I’m in love with these wedges.  Cannot wait for the season.
