Tour New Bettinardi MB & CB irons - 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational

These will look good on someone’s wall next to a display of limited Hive release headcovers and a few putters that have never seen grass.  Can’t imagine anyone buying these to put in play.  If $1600 is accurate then that’s not a bad price for some unique golf related wall art.

Their wedges are the best full shot wedges I've ever owned, by a lot.  Hated it in the lob, but 46, 50, 56 are absolute money.  Looking forward to the reviews.

Design issues aside, I can't see a legitimate business case for these. It's a crowded brick-and-mortar marketplace; whose rack space will they be able to convince retailers and the big fitters to shrink or eliminate to give to Bettinardi? The DTC space -- should Bettinardi choose to go in that direction -- also is very crowded and they would be late to the game. Either way, it's going to take a huge marketing push to elbow their way into consumer awareness, then into actual purchasing decisions.  Do they have the deep pockets to do what PXG has done? Sorry, I just don't see it; hope I'm wrong.

I suspect they are tossing out a set of CB/MB's like Piretti has and up to folks to buy them.

 

Not a money maker, more of a "you asked for it" solution.

My 46* is the HLX 5.0 (48 bent strong).  50 and 56 are hlx 3.0.  I have tried the hlx 3.0 60* in both bounces and its a bit chuncky looking for a 60* .  I have tried and tried and just can't make it work.

I'm sure, that's the deal with bettanardi $$$....ill,stick to jdm from Japan and get irons much less. He's entering the arena of jdm like miura etc.

This is what really bothers me. If you have all these capabilities that they do i wish they would have actually cared about the wedges and irons and done it right.  Going to china to get an old mold for wedges and irons seems like a big miss.  And if you argue cost is the reason then why are they still charging premium prices? They are the most expensive wedge at PGASS and irons will be more than everyone else as well.

I will have to check out their wedges for sure then.  

 

I know what you mean with "chunky" and that is a huge issue for me too. 

 

Played Scratch wedges for over a decade, they had a nice thick top line but stubby and squared off.  They were awesome but hard to find.

That CB looks really nice. Just feel like the top line needs to be rounded off a bit.

From the pictures, it looks like the micro honeycomb portions are glued on badges. But the differentiation may be that Bettinardi will use honeycomb milled aircraft aluminum. The hex B logo appears to be part of the forging but a cavity is created for the badges, also for the musclebacks, so that would explain why the topline is thick. I'll try to explain my words in illustration form when I can.

Here's a drawing I made of what I'm trying to describe in my post above. I think Bettinardi is using a milled badge they glue to b their heads, so to make room for the cavity -the topline has to be thicker.
