Hit the X7's today. Feel really heavy if you're into a heavy feeling shaft. Ball flight was good, lower by a little than my AMT's in the club I hit, felt more demanding than my AMT's. Both were hit in the 716 MB.

 

Which club were you swinging? The x7's were more like your longer irons and less like the lower irons, correct?

 

No, I was hitting 7 irons. The X7's felt really heavy, like static weight heavy, felt super stable but didn't seem to have that little kick that my AMT's have and had a lower flight than my X100's. The just felt heavy and super stable, but I like the AMT's in contrast that feel good but are just easier to elevate.

What iron shafts do you have on your radar to test?

 

DGX7 and Tour V 130

 

If you haven't already, give the Modus 120TX's a try. I came from CTaper 130X and have been extremely happy with the impact it's made on ball striking and distance control.

 

I tried the 130 and 120 pretty extensively last year, the 130 launched too high and spinny. I liked the 120 but the flight was a much different shape and apex than what I am used to. I was thinking about the C10 protos. Have you tried those?

 

Gotcha. 120's for me have been superb. Maybe the 125's are worth a try, apparently they are a blend of the 130's and 120's. 130's for me launched way to high which like you is the opposite of what I need. I'm surprised you like the Ctapers but not the 130's as both performed the same for me.

No on Nippons, unless that C10 or whatever it is is a lot less spinny. I had the 125s in my MM's at TPI and got exposed in the wind by a lot.

Only thing exposed in the wind was your suspect irons from a club company that couldn't hack it :o Don't blame the shafts ;) :D

Played KBS Tour X and lived feel but too high andspinny. Went to C-taper X in NP54 for a while and it masked my overly aggressive swing, but as I worked on my swing i found them hard to control unless I was swinging 100%. Partial shots were difficult swinging 100% led to lack of consistency. Tried soft stepped, but still no. Swinging all out led to bad swings. Went to X100 and liked them but didn't feel as good. Got a great deal on a set of Modus 120TX and have really liked them. Easy to flight and great on partial shots, but feel like with the softer butt and mid I have to be super smooth with them. They have really helped me make better swings but, to me, I can lose them a little if I go after one. If I'm between clubs I feel I'm better taking a little off the longer club vs going after the shorter club. Picked up a set of J15 CB's that look like they've never been hit. Gonna try the Modus 125X hard stepped, to try to keep tip stiffness of the 120TX. We'll see. Still have TI X100 and liked the AMT X100 in JPX900 Tour.

That's exactly how I felt about the X7s. Very stable but still a higher flight than my 945s with C tapers and that could be b/c of the heads.
