Wait, so these are supposed to improve distances on hits which are low on the face (i.e. if I blade one, and a hit a low, HOT wormburner). So, now instead of being over the green, I'll be somewhere past the next tee box, in a creek, across a street, or past whatever is beyond the green?

Shouldn't they be trying to reduce distance on these types of shots?

Leave it to TMAG to do their best to break the definition of blades. I'm not against Game Improvement classes of irons, but bladez?

Too many nooks and crannies, and offsets, and angles, and slots, and cavities. Weight the perimeter for forgiveness and lets go play golf!!

I suppose you call this a blade putter?

golden-bear-bear-claw-blade-putter-2.jpg

The term ' blade' has been misused for many years.

This is the TM MO..... hype the heck out of the "new" product and then flood the market and sell a ton of them.
Check ebay early next year.....everyone will be selling this irons for a very low price.

Just sec................ lol

So here is my question about the speed slot on the iron. The slot is behind the cavity and filled with a polymer material, but that is a lot of metal to flex for the 1/200 of a secong the ball is in contact with the face. Does the metal really compress and rebound enough in that short amount of time to make a large difference? Not saying that TM didn't do research, but just looking at the design of the head when it is cut in half makes me wonder how much force can be directed back to the ball. Does stainless steel have that much of a spring effect at those thicknesses in the iron head?

And also, what part of the club does the flexing? Part 1, 2, or both?

Interesting to note that they compare 6-irons to other manufacturers clubs on their site, but don't mention that the lofts are stronger (+1.5º & 2.5º vs Cally's RAZR X & Tour for instance) and that the shaft is longer...
yes the lofts are stronger, but usually you have 7-8 yards between clubs if not more. and the lofts between clubs are 3.5-5 degrees. so TM is longer by a whole club, when adding just half a club...so TM is a half club longer if that makes you feel better.

and they have to turn the loft down because the club goes so high, it has nothing to do with making it longer, its all about the height, with lower CG it means high ball flight, so you turn the loft down to even out the flight
Hey, no one wants to listen to the physics of the launch window. They just want to complain.
Some people are closed off in their thinking....And refuse to try anything new....And then wonder why they cant break 80 consistently... or 70....or 90...
Is my whole bag TM? yes.....Would I put something in the bag if it outperformed TM? Yes....Have I hit everything? Yes
Am I extremely good looking? Yes............Wait, a little off topic....
The hate just disturbs me....Get out from behind your prejudice and get the best equipment to make a difficult game easier...
Regardless of TM or Titleist, or Spalding....Whatever works the best, that you can afford, should be in your bag...Unless you are getting paid to play them. End of Rant...Almost

TM is bringing the heat in 2012/2013. My guess is that they will leave all of the other oems in the dust once again. I cannot wait to try out these irons! And we have not even gotten to their new driver yet.....
Well, they have outsold every OEM in irons. I'm just going to be curious what the offerings will be in graphite. I'll probably have to have them reshafted anyways.

You could probably go tour in these irons also T. I know you will reshaft as I don't think any stock graphite shaft will be to your liking.

If you wanted and the slots offer "consistent distance" why would you pull them out of the short irons? The most important clubs to have consistent distance are the short irons, no?
You do not want high launch in short irons.
Well the loft would have more affect on that than anything else. Just thinking out loud here, the quote was it offered "consistent distance" which sounds like something I'd want in short irons. No bashing here, they look great for the player its designed for...
I'm with JW on this one. Players don't normally want high launching short irons but if the slot improves distance control like TM said, players can live with high launching short irons.

It's a bummer they are not offering this distance control technology on the most important distance control clubs in the bag. Maybe we will get it in 2014?

Looks like all of the custom shaft options are on TM's site already... as I suspected, the standard are a .370 hosel size, which makes my dream set up of 3-6 Standard and 7-PW Tour with C-Tapers impossible. Bummer. But I'm flirting with the idea of a graphite shafted 3-5 with the rest in C-Tapers. Who knows. The sky is the limit. I'm pumped for these and that haters can hate all they like... TM builds great product however you feel about their brand, and markets it better than the other guys...
